Do monks, brothers, nuns, sisters wear them ? Yes, but not around the neck. They were it on the side of the hip, attached to belt or rope. The reason why, is because they pray often many times a day. To wear it around your neck, better be for the right reasons. To wear it around your neck you better justify that with multiple rosaries a day, and not all in the same location. Why? Well, if you are wearing it to be seen as pious, or because you think it looks cool, then 100% NO. But if you are out and about, because of work, family, or other obligations, and you need to have it on you, because you will be praying the Rosary with it later, and you have no other means of carrying the rosary beads on your person, like in cargo pockets .... Then, and only then could I see that as possible. It is not fashion statement. And you also could fall into the Sin of Scandal. You are scandalizing your fellow Catholics by wearing it, who are saddened and offended that Our LORD JESUS CHRIST, has to see, the gift of the Holy Rosary and the Beads they represent, being profaned. To avoid this, make sure you really need them, on your neck, with many rosaries, in many places. Or, just take the crucifix off, attach an a double-sided smooth tip o-ring and a cord to crucifix ... And now you have an awesome Saint Benedict Crucifix corded necklace! This is the better way to express your Faith my friend. And by all means, YES, promote the Rosary brother. DEUS Vult +++

I am at work right now so I cannot tell you exactly how long it is but must be about 20 inches long. I have worn it around my neck and it is NOT like a choker, it is a beautiful Rosary that can be worn as such.
