This saved our odd sized hallway!!
The media could not be loaded. This was perfect for our misshapen stairway rail. It is huge on the bottom. The bottom is almost 4 inches at the base on each side and the strap still had an inch or so left before it would be out of space.Plus, the top part of the railing is not a circle. It's a fancy shape, that probably has a better name than fancy shape. It's like 6 flat sides. Of course it's not round. What's the fun in that?!We nearly gave up since our Dobie puppies think it's a game to see who can knock the gate down faster. All. Day. Long. Our opening was in between the gate sizes. 59-62 was too short and 62.5-67 was too big. Plus, the top was never big enough for the pressure mount to be stable enough to keep the gate sturdy enough. We decided this was going to be our last attempt. We can't drill because we were afraid to damage the railing and imagined the whole thing coming down if the gate was knocked down yet again. Our solution was this stair railing extension, which really became the stabilizer. Now the pressure is strong and gate isn't wobbly. We also used the round wall protectors because not only is the opening super wide but the stair railing is offset so the top is not perfectly in line. Meaning the wall wasn't built out far enough to be even with the stair railing. If it was a perfect straight line the round pressure mount would be hanging off the corner of the wall. These wall protectors doubled the size of the footprint of where we could apply the round pressure mounts so one is closer to the front door and the opposite side is closer to the back window. That allowed us to have a straight gate from end to end even though it is placed at different parts of the wall and opposite side railing. It is not the prettiest but it keeps the pups from tearing up the ENTIRE house. Now they are only confined to the main living spaces where we are most of the time.I hope this helps and wasn't completely confusing.

Works well, but double check your gate mounting width
The media could not be loaded. The adapters were very easy to install, but the wooden piece was too narrow for my retractable gate mounts. I ended up using the zip ties from this set to attach the gate directly to the bannister. It’s not ideal, but works okay for the bottom of the stairs. This system would work wonderfully with a tension gate or a gate with a narrower mounting bracket. Also, the wood is soft enough that I didn’t need to drill a pilot hole for the screws.

Ease of install or if you even can depends on your banisters
While it initially looked like it would work when I unpacked it, as I prepared to install it the reality came clear that it just wouldn't work. The main issue is the straps need to be about 2x as long as they come to work with my banister. At the top it is 4.5" square and at the bottom 6.25" square. Plus due to the design in the banister, I needed to use a pair of boards to space it out over some details. That means instead of 4.5" it's another 1.5" on the one side.If the straps were long enough, then I just had to cut one of the boards to length because it was too long for one side and space it out on the other side.Check your banister to make sure it isn't too small, or has some features that may cause it to need longer straps. I may be able to find some hardware that will make it work. some sort of u-bolt design.

Nice for those of use that would rather not drill into our banisters
These are held by adhesive and pressure so no drilling. They were fairly easy to install provided you measure and plan well. It also helps to have the gate you will be installing there as well (i.e. don't install this and then buy a gate. Have all of it ready to go). They are nice and strong though they haven't had any significant challenges to overcome. My son is about 30lbs and can pull on this without it moving. We have the gate that is meant for this kit and they work well together. We are using the banister to banister installation method. The only downside is that they look pretty ugly compared to the normal look of the banister, but I can't think of a way that the manufacturer could have fixed that. Just install and use them as long as you need and look forward to removing them when your child grows up enough to not need them. I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling them, but they did come with extra adhesive patches so it should be pretty easy. Definitely recommend.

Great features
We've had plenty baby gates / dog gates over the years and this one might be one of my favorites. It comes with easy to install hardware, cleat instructions, and multiple mounting options. We unfortunately lost the dog we bought this for but have still kept the mounting brackets in place for future use. You can easily remove the gate and leave everything else as is so having it up when toy need it and out of the way when you don't is such a great feature.

Works great!
This worked great to install my baby gate without ruining our bannister! The color matched my wood really well, and it was easy to cut down to size to accommodate my bannister height. I was worried how the plastic straps would look, but they aren't terrible! Overall, I highly recommend!

Great Idea- Mad About Stickers
They put multiple large warning stickers on the would that do NOT come off! I spent 45 min picking them, my nails hurt and I put knicks in the wood finish while doing so. I'm so irritated by it. Yes, I meant to put the stickers facing the wall, but I got distracted by my kiddos so I paid the price for it.

Worked like a charm!
We have tried out many different baby gates for our stairs and none seemed to work. Randomly came across this item and decided to give it a try. It was the perfect project to securely hold the baby gate without needing to drill into the stairs themselves. It was very easy to use and great value for the price.
