Doesn’t deliver on anything!
The story doesn’t really go anywhere, women are surrogates and the company is strict about what they can/can’t do. There’s a rebel amongst the group but the rebellion, if you’d even call it that, is really just a young woman fed up of being restricted and smart enough to get her employers on side who then helps another. It doesn’t really lead anywhere, there’s no big change to anything. And if it’s supposed to teach us about the realities of being a minority, then I think it all ends a little too well. Not worth the time or money.

Easy to read
This book was very easy to read and I read it in two sittings. It moves along quite well, however not much actually happens. From the blurb and the cover I expected it to be more sci-fi, Atwood-esque; however it was more like reality in fact, and nothing was too unbeliveable. Very interesting commentary on surrogacy in the States and how race and inequality factors into this, as well as questioning whether anyone can ever really be altruistic. The ending felt a bit too neat and bought the book down for me. I enjoyed reading it however I would probably not recommend it to a friend as it was not THAT memorable.

Surprisingly shocking
This book is amazing. It lures you into a false sense of security to start off with and seems quite tame. Then it suddenly gets plunges darker and darker with some some shocking twists. One of my fave reads of the year so far.

Interesting read
Not as good as expected it to be given the rave reviews. Readable book but not one that you can’t put down.
