OutsetCast Iron, 8 x 8 x 3.25 inches, Round Grill Press

the weight of the tool is very nice and heavy and almost well built except for the 2 screws that holds the handle where they were rusted out and seems like it is going to break any time and the cast iron itself was starting to get rust spots everywhere which is not good since they always say, rust is like a cancer, once they start you can slow them down but you can’t stop it from spreading. Having that said, restoring it back to its original condition will be a bit of work. Would’ve been nice if it was pre-seasoned to prevent rust from occuring.It is a good set if you will receive a non rusty one with better quality screw.Had to return mine for the above reason.

Cast Iron alert! Remember to clean and oil this thing EVERY time you use it!If you maintain cast iron things properly, they make the best cookware available!Juicy flat burgers, perfect bacon patties, you name it.I warm up my skillet on one side of the stove and warm this thing on the otherside. Once "redhot" I double cook my stuff in no time! Watch out tge handle still get hot hot hot!

Once you've made smash burgers, going back to regular burgers is unappealing. This device makes the doable. But the handle is too prone to rotating while you're trying to press down. Annoying I'm going to see if I can jerry-rig something this summer to keep it still. Otherwise, it's a 5 star buy at $20 (which is what I paid).

This press isn’t bad but I took away two stars for a few reasons. First I don’t like the grooves, I never really thought about it purchasing and it isn’t the end of the world but flat would be way better.And secondly the handle when you use it a few times it moves and gets kind of loose just a bit annoying.Other than that it looks nice, decently priced, and is solid!!

I was debating if 8" size was enough, but it's already been earning it's keep, quite well, and fits in ALL our fry pans.What I really like is that the wood handle is wide enough to grab, even with larger hands, without burning your hand by touching the hot metal at the ends.However when I got it it was unclear if the coating was a paint or an edible oil (seasoned)So unscrewed/removed the wooden handle and baked it in the oven for several hours at 550 F, then after letting it cool, scrubbed with wire brush and soap, and then seasoned it properly with edible oil.Also when replacing the handle I added some 2" circles of silicone matting, to provide additional hand burn heat protection.....Just in case.I agree with another reviewer that the temperature probe hole is more of a nuisance than a feature, as it just allows greasy goop to burn onto the top, and so more to wash.And if course since it is cast iron, and by it's very nature will rust...it has to be wiped dry with a towel after hand washing, and NEVER just thrown in the dishwasher....And don't drop it on your toes.
