Good looking but not very effective
This looks really good but performance is not great. I found I have to halve or even quarter onions before this will chop them. As noted in another review, despite the force used, the blades don't reach the bottom so you get left with a bit of a mess attached to the blades. The base is easy to clean but the blades less so. On the whole I think it's a bit too expensive and is a good example of form over function.

Looks great and great idea
Being a massive Joseph Joseph fan and having the majority of the green and white utensil's collected over the years on the market I just knew that I had to have this even though I had read as many negative reviews as I did positive which did concern me . I find reviews can be useful but also give very mixed messages so here’s my take .I think that the chop cup looks absolutely fantastic and is a very simple but genius idea , I have only had the item for a few days but have already tried to use it a few times with a few items and what I have found is that it cuts soft veg like mushrooms with ease and I found that it actually cuts patatoes quite well also albeit you end up with shorter chips as it recommends a length just over two inches which isn’t a problem. I also tried to cut a red onion which it did cut to be fair but I had to exert quite a lot more pressure on the handles to cut it and it did make me wonder if the blade could of been sharper or how many onions it would allow me to cut before any signs of wear would show . I must say it also washes but very easily due to the fact that it comes in three pieces . But I will just have to continue using it and maybe write another review in a few weeks after a lot more use. So overall I am very pleased with the chopper so far and it is definitely one to try and keep on display for the way it looks and I as said previously I will write another review in the near future .

Doesn't cut cleanly and imposssible to wash
This an almost great product but.... since it relies on pressure rather than a particularly sharp blade, it drags bit of vegetable down to the base with it. For all the time it has saved me I have now spent at least the same amount of time fishing bits of partially chopped vegetable out of the blade and then trying to wash it properly.

If you want to make chopping onions more difficult then this is for you!
I usually like Joseph Joseph products. In fact this is the first one that I think is poor. I thought it would be useful for chopping onions quickly while I'm using my food processor for something else. Pasta Bake tonight so wanted to chop a large red onion. I peeled and quartered it and then used this Joseph Joseph chopper. It was *incredibly* difficult to apply enough pressure! Luckily (?) I'm about 17 stone and could use my bodyweight, but this is so ridiculous. Most people will not be able to chop anything harder than a tomato or an apple. You do get a uniform size result and it's good to have something which doesn't require a power outlet, but really this is less convenient, harder work and takes longer than using a sharp knife. I really can't believe that anyone with a brain tried this out before the company decided it was good enough to sell with their brand on it. The metal grid is not sharp. Doh! I'll probably keep using it for tomatoes and other softer items but for anything firm it's absolutely hopeless.
