Price is great, quality is to be seen
I bought this starter to replace one where the main shaft completely failed on one that I bought just over a year ago off Amazon from another seller. Of course, installation only requires two or three bolts. It fit right into my Toro Timesaver 5500. It fired right up but now it's getting to be winter so it's going to be sitting more often during the winter since we here in north Florida don't mow that often during this time. Compared to the over $200 that the local lawn mower stores expected to pay this is a great value!

Not Reliable DO NOT Purchase
In June of 2023 I replaced my Cub Cadet starter with this replacement and in June of 2025 it stopped operating. When I went to replace it the top spindle had sheared off. I replaced it with the same starter on June 15, 2025 and now 2 days after the replacement window closes the new starter purchased June 11, 2025 has seized. I would not recommend this starter as a replacement as apparently they are not well made and will not last. Once the replacement window closes you have no way of contacting the seller so you are out your money.

Simple install, and works like original
It was a simple install (CubCadet XT2) and works just like the original. However, two things to note, see images. The starter is a bit longer than the original, but still fits. And the shaft is a bit thinner than the original. I had to replace the original one since somehow the shaft got bent so the thinner one on this starter has been a little worried, thus the 4 stars. Only time will tell.

Great Fit
It was a perfect fit on our Cub Cadet XT1 and east to install. It took about 10-15 minutes to remove and install the next one. It seems to be of good quality and our lawn mower is now starting quickly and there is no grinding.
