Wife has been taking these for several months; she and baby doing great
My wife is doing very, very well on these vitamins during her pregnancy. At our most recent prenatal checkup her OB/GYN said, after reviewing the ultrasound results from that day, that we should be thrilled with how great the baby looks at this point. These vitamins are highly bio-available, which is super important when it comes to supplements. All the vitamins/minerals come from natural, whole food sources instead of being synthetic, man-made versions like you see in cheaper/lower-quality vitamins which means the body has a much easier time absorbing and using the nutrients. One of the first things that attracted me to this product is that it contains folate (the bio-available, natural form of Vitamin B-9), instead of folic acid (the synthetic version). This is especially important for women in the very earliest stage of pregnancy, as Vitamin B-9 is what's needed to ensure that the fetus's neural tube develops properly (neural tube defects cause problems like spina bifida).A large percentage of the population has a gene that makes it hard for them to convert folic acid to folate in the body, which can mean women who think they're getting enough B-9 due to the vitamins they take aren't actually getting as much as they need. However, the neural tube has fully formed by about the 6th week of pregnancy, so this is mostly important for women who are attempting to get pregnant or are in the very early stages. My wife only takes half the recommended amount of pills per day - 2 instead of 4. She does this to save money, but also because she tries to eat healthfully and get vitamins through real food as much as possible. She uses these multivitamins as a safeguard against letting herself become deficient in any one vitamin or mineral. Some research shows that multivitamins may not make much of a difference for pregnant women (or for people in general) but we figure the cost of 9 months worth of a high quality prenatal vitamin like this is a small price to pay to help make sure our baby has all the nutrients it needs to develop properly.Obviously no supplement can take the place of a mother working hard to take good care of herself during pregnancy, but more and more evidence is showing how vital nutrition is to our overall health. Taking a high quality prenatal multivitamin is a no-brainer in our minds, and we'd highly recommend this one.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Long Overdue Update - Nov. 2017:Our son was born in September of 2016 after almost exactly 40 weeks of gestation, and was perfectly healthy at just over 7 lbs. My wife breastfed him exclusively for his first year and continued to take these multivitamins and several other supplements (all cleared with her OBGYN before starting) throughout that period, while continuing to completely abstain from alcohol. She did have a cup of coffee most mornings, though, after getting it OK'd by the pediatrician. At his 1 year checkup he was 25th percentile in weight, 75th percentile in height, and 75th percentile in head circumference. His pediatrician says he looks perfect despite the lower percentile in weight. He had what we thought was colic for the first two to three weeks of his life, in that if he wasn't nursing or sleeping he'd be crying loudly. We suspected it could be gas due to the way he would arch his back and squirm while crying, and how he would often settle down somewhat after finally getting some out. After checking with the doctor we gave him some infant probiotic drops every day for about a week. My wife also cut dairy out of her diet for a couple weeks during this time, but it was hard to tell if it made a difference. Sometimes it seemed like it did, and sometimes not. We're not sure what actually helped (maybe he just grew out of it) but shortly afterwards he stopped having those issues. He had problems sleeping at night (he would get super upset if we tried to get him to go to sleep on his own in his crib) up until he was about 10 months old, but that almost definitely due to our inexperience as parents allowing him to form sleep associations with things like being rocked and/or nursed to sleep. Shortly after 10 months something seemed to click for him, and since then he goes to bed super easily and sleeps a solid, uninterrupted 12-13 hours every night.Despite those few hiccups, he's been a super happy little dude and has seemingly never-ending energy and curiosity. He's super observant and learns/picks up on things very quickly, and has a very sweet, unique personality that runs the gamut from mischievous to fussy to loving. As far as common milestones, he started saying "mama" and "dada" (with actual meaning behind them) at about 6.5 months, was crawling around 7 months, and started walking shortly before his first birthday. Now, at almost 15 months, he spends all of his time running (literally, as well as a toddler can at least) around the house investigating anything he can get his hands on, understands and responds to dozens of words/phrases, can say many of them with varying degrees of actual pronunciation, and constantly uses them to try to communicate with people. He has so much energy and drive to explore things that it can be pretty exhausting keeping up with him. He also loves to flip through his books, but often can't sit still long enough for someone to read one to him.Obviously this is all anecdotal (and definitely the ramblings of a smitten first-time dad), and it's pure speculation as to whether anything would be different had my wife not taken these multivitamins during her pregnancy. All I know is that we had an awesome kid who appears to have zero developmental or formative issues, and by all measures seems to be very bright and happy. We feel truly lucky, as we're aware that there are so many ways it could have gone differently. That said, we plan to use the exact same approach to nutrition/supplementation for my wife's next pregnancy (when the time comes) and hope to repeat the results.

Great and no artificial anything
These are awesome Prenatals! Just be sure to supplement some omega 3s with these. I took 2 every morning and 2 every night of my pregnancy and I have such a healthy little babe with lots of hair on her head. Not sure if it has anything to do with these but I think it definitely could.

Virtually yeast free (trace amounts)
I haven't even received these in the mail yet, but I have to say, I am IMPRESSED that not only are these prenatal vitamins whole food based, but they are free of many allergens, but mostly important,y nearly totally yeast free!! I called the company and they said it is removed at the end of their process so it only contains trace amounts. Why is this important to me and might be to other pregnant ladies out there? Well, every other "good for you" whole food based prenatal is positively chock full of yeast (you will see either Brewers yeast or the word saccromyces cerevisae). While this is a healthy kind of yeast, it isn't for someone like me who is struggling to get gut dybiosis and Candida under control, as well as a developed allergy to both brewer (nutritional) and bakers. I used to take New Chapter Organics. I just recently read another mom developed gut dybiosis after taking those her previous pregnancy. Is that how I developed a problem??Needless to say, I have called up, spoken to, and researched dozens of prenatal vitamin companies and this one PureNatal is the only one that is organic (a must for me since it is food based), contains the natural form of folic acid which is called folate (Rainbow light Organics is yeast free but contains 1000 mg of synthetic folic acid.....I contacted them and confirmed this), and is both mostly allergen free (does contain soy, but fermented organic soy....I would rather take this than the yeast) and primarily the only one that is almost completely yeast free (I consider it yeast free, but if someone was literally deathly allergic, maybe trace amounts might affect them).Off the top of my head I have looked intonew chapterMy kind organicsVitamin code (liquid and tablet)Rainbow light organicsBodsmith (liquid which I strongly believe to be a knockoff of Liquid Health....check the labels out plus there is virtually no info in the company, and liquid contains a chemical preservative)Liquid Health (a little more info out there on this company but still sparse, only some ingredients are organic, not usda certified....yeast free....contains chemical preservative)Country life Realfood organicsPretty sure I checked in Dr mercola too (and I think some of his ingredients are China sourced)Natural vitality organicsAnd it seems like a bunch more....I wish the company would note it only has trace amounts of yeast so it clear to consumers what an edge this product has over the other organic whole food ones in that respect. For Canadian people, a naturopathic dr family member just let me know there is a British Columbia based company called Pranin which has incredible organic whole food vitamin supplements (major allergen and yeast free) which are appropriate for pregnant women and even children. They also have iron and b vitamin etc. Sadly it isn't sold in U.S., but can be purchased thru a Canadian retailer or naturopath. I wonder if a U.S. Obgyn/midwife would be interested in bringing it in on our behalf. Anyways, good to check into if you have access to it.I will update once I actually take the vitamins, but needed to share my research info on this product in light of what I've discovered and hope someone else can benefit from this review.

I love this Prenatal
I love the formulation of these prenatal vitamins and I feel great while taking them. It is a little hard having to remember to take 2 (larger) pills twice a day, but I really like them so I think it’s worth it. In addition to these I take extra Choline and a prenatal DHA supplement.

BEWARE OF RED RASPBERRY LEAF EXTRACT
I’ll start with the good: This is a great product. It has amazing ingredients, is easy to take, and doesn’t hurt my tummy. Love that the taste doesn’t make me want to gage! Now the bad. The first night I took these at 35 weeks, I had so many contractions. I looked at the bottle after and realized there was red raspberry leaf extract, which can cause contractions. I personally have preterm labor history so I’m staying away from these until after I’m 37 weeks.

worth having to take 4 pills
I tend to look for supplement with least amount of pills to take. but I had been struggling with feeling good while pregnant kept feeling like I was circling the drain. my Dr. even ran labs trying to help me feel better then she asked me to try switching my prenatal sense I had had the gastric sleeve years ago she thought maybe I wasn't absorbing enough.well I tried these and it worked now I just feel normal pregnant tired! haha, been on them for 2 bottles now and I'll continue to use them even post partum I really like the quality and the fact I have energy back. even my Dr. noticed I looked so much better and not as pale and exhausted.highly recommend.
