It not only helps heal the bites but I believe that the do not like the risidule smell and if you cannot use bug spray this is a dual solution in a bottle.

All in all, it is a good disinfectant and with the 16 oz bottle, when watching for the low in the fluctuating price, it can be a bargain. Dynarex sells two versions 1425, which is nominally 7.5 % solution of povidone-iodine (a scrub) and 1415, 10 % solution (a prep). For washing hands the 7.5 % is a bit more sudsy but certainly even more soap-like version with extra "inactive" ingredients would be welcome. The inactive stuff can be quite important.As the iodine contents go, keep in mind, the percentage is of the povidone-iodine complex, not iodine and the amount of iodine in povidone can be widely variable. It seems that assumption is there is 10 % of iodine. The only supplier that I found who lists the iodine contents lists is a Povidone/iodine 10/1, which actually would be 9.09 %. Still, iodine is very potent disinfectant, so the solutions, even if a bit less concentrated, are likely effective. Less concentrated, thou, means paying more for the active ingredient.In my sample of the 10 % prep I found 0.94 % iodine and in the 7.5 % scrub 0.645 % iodine, all done by thiosulfate titration.

As a dog owner, with a dog who suffers from chronic skin infections and loss of hair, this product was very useful in helping my dog with her skin condition AND hair loss! My German Shepherd gets annual skin infections which makes her lose large amounts of hair. To prevent this I give her Lime baths weekly and use this scrub on areas of her skin that are inflamed or damaged. This product had her hair growing back and her skin looking healthier within the week. This a great news for me, due to the chronic condition at which my animal suffers. I had not been able to take pictures yet as she has gotten better but intend to update this review as soon as I see an opportunity to. Additionally, I let my neighbor use this for his Lab mix dog who was constantly biting and licking her pads, and losing hair because of it. He had the same results I did! Just follow the directions on the back and BE Careful; this product will stain!

Yes, this product is excellent especially for the scalp for infections from hair shampoo and conditioners. I was told to buy this conditioner because it was supposed to make the hair shine and feel good. Well I did. 3 days later broke out in a rash on the scalp and infections in the hair follicles. It was Folliculitis. I had always found Iodine to kill all skin problems and bought this product.....Within 3 days it was completely healed, the pus and pimples at the base of the hair were gone and the scalp stopped itching all together, WHAT A MESS IT WAS !!!! Use this as a shampoo for a few days and your scalp problems will be gone, I have a supply now good for a year, would not be without it. Iodine Scrub will kill germs on the skin pronto as well as Deep Acne type lesions. I had them also as a kid and my Dr. mentioned it but said to use with caution on the face only a couple of times a week, but the Face Acne was really better also.
