It does tear up, but you should be able to work it into a soft ball. It shouldn’t be dry, but it isn’t “claylike” moist.

Yes...ish. It does a pretty good job unless you are doing something very detailed. Probably wouldn’t capture a fingerprint or a leave but would a fork.
