This stuff is a game changer for tough cases! It magically loosens up the gunk so the dog can shake it out. Completely got rid of the yeasty smell. A bit “greasy” but absolutely worth it. Light tea tree smell. Have been using daily, sometimes twice daily, for months. No irritation, my dog looks forward to it, and her ears are sooooooooo much better. I have a rag close by because the first drops tickle, so there usually shakes before we can fill the ear. First of all, I would like to thank each and every person who took the time to review this product. Your positive reviews made the difference in my decision to purchase, and I am so grateful I did! Nearly every large breed dog we have ever owned has battled stinky sludgy ear infections. It always means visits to the vet, antibiotics, solutions that never truly clear the infection, etc. The past three years has sent me on a journey for our family to be as holistic as possible and really think about the things we are putting in our bodies. It's had a trickle down affect on our animals, and this product fits the bill. I cannot believe that we have used it for three days and the smell and gunk are already gone! I was leaning over her this morning and hugging her like I always do around her neck, but I can almost always smell the presence of infection. While the infection may still be be there (we still have seven days of this treatment cycle to go) it's obvious this solution has made a difference that we have never experienced in all of our years owning pets. Top to bottom, it's superior. The bottle is extremely easy to use. She doesn't love seeing the bottle coming toward her, so we have started to put the medication in the cap or just soak a soft cloth to massage down in her ear. The smell is incredible!!! It smells clean, natural, and has zero hints of any chemical undertone. The only ingredient that I would say is not necessarily "natural" is the polysorbate which is used as an emulsifier and in this case I'm assuming to help it coat the inside of her ear. The witch hazel and tea tree oil are my favorite of the incidents and act as a powerhouse combination to soothe and heal. I simply cannot say enough good things. Once her infection treatment cycle has ended, we will likely treat her once or twice a month just for preventive maintenance. I am incredibly grateful. So I've had this for a little over 3 weeks now and wanted to wait to review after I gave it a good chance to work. I was skeptical at first. My beagle-hound mix has ear issues on and off - black discharge with redness inside her ear. Your typical yeast infection. The first time I used it we did it as directed and she was not a happy camper. You can tell by the smell it probably stings a bit. There was nasty black stuff flying everywhere. If you can do it outside that's probably best. The second time we attempted she took one look at the bottle and ran for the hills. She wasn't having it. And no amount of bacon in the world would coax her. So plan b. Sneak attack. I waited until she was sound asleep and bam I squirted it in her ear. I think I got the stink eye from her for a few days. Then onto plan C. Hubby held her down and I poured it in. Same upset dog. There was no way I could do this twice a day as recommended. I figured we'd only do it once a day but for a little longer. I couldn't see putting her through it twice a day. I did start using a medicine dropper which worked so much better than trying to pour it in (might be a good idea to include one with purchase). After a week we started to see less redness & less black funk in her ear and also noticed that it didn't seem to bother her as much when we dropped it in. I can't lie, she's still not thrilled about it, but the infection is almost gone. It would be a breeze to do this with a small dog but my 50 pounder is giving me a run for my money! I still would go this route again. Even if we went to the vet I'd still be trying to corral her to put drops in her ear and it'd cost way more.
