Worried about my Parrot Ziggy
I bought this product because it is eco friendly…. I’m doing a project for my parrot…. It’s been a week since I applied the second coat however I’m not able to bring it in the house because of a strong odor. Chemical odors are sometimes fatal to birds. I now have it on my patio hoping this helps….

Beautiful, non-toxic, baby safe, and easy to use!
We used this cherry stain on several items: our floor crib, a wooden wall hanger for mobiles, and an unfinished wooden teether toy/rattle. We put 3 coats on everything, the instructions on the Tried & True website were very easy to follow and as recommended we used cotton rags to apply it, which I ordered on Amazon along with the stain. A little goes a long way, we still have half a pint left. We did all of this in the baby’s room, since there are no fumes or VOCs from this product and it’s easy to clean up any excess that drips. No need for gloves either since linseed oil is very safe, and there are no chemicals in this. Be sure to follow the instructions and wipe vigorously with a clean rag between coats, and you shouldn’t have any issues. It took my hubby and I an hour and a half to do the crib. The little toy and the mobile hanger only took maybe 20 minutes. It was very easy, we left them alone to cure for a couple of days, and there is no tackiness. We love how they turned out with the cherry stain! :) We have some floating bookshelves that need to be sanded before staining, so after hubby sands those down we’ll be staining those with this as well so everything will match in our baby’s nursery.

I will use this product again.
Perfect! Best stain I’ve ever used. It is thick which made it easy to control. The color is beautiful. We used cheap pine boards for our countertop and the color of this stain made it so pretty for fractions of the coat of the better boards. We used two coats to get our desired color. I’ve attached a picture that shows the original boards, and then after the first coat, and the final product.

Makes cheap wood look good
This worked so much better than I expected! I used the cheapest wood from Lowes called “white wood” and used the Java finish on it. I’ve heard that other stains bring up the grain so you need to sand after applying but that was not the case here. It left the wood with a nice feel, unless you put too much on then you’ll have to keep wiping off the excess. You really don’t need to apply much. Photo of the scrap wood shows one coat above the white line and two coats below the white line so not much difference with multiple coats.

Sticky Wicket
I NEEDED a no VOC product to use inside in the winter for a few tables, I watched the youtube videos on the application, and yes, I used a tiny amount applied with cheesecloth (where you are thinking this can't be enough), I wiped with the excess off after five minutes, and here I am 3 weeks later on ONE table. I have applied two coats. I used the steel wool in between coats, followed by a tack cloth. This is STILL a sticky mess. I let it sit for a week to cure each time. I am furious with this product and the results. We chose Java, and from the review pictures, I am baffled by their results. I am curious to know how those results occurred. They have coated the products, and those will never dry? Today, I used cheesecloth and applied a little mineral spirits (after googling what to do ) to get the sticky off. It is still sticky!!!!If I could go back, I would buy poison, wait for the weather to be decent & stain outside, and wear a mask - knowing it would DRY - this was a waste of money and time.
