Q: Ive been trying to dye my backpack but it isn't working and ive tried everything. Can someone help me please?

Rit makes more than one type of dye maybe try using a different type depending on what the backpack is made out of. I would try polyester dye

If you mean will it hurt you in any way, I’ve been using it for years with no ill effects. Consumer groups have labeled it non toxic.

Q: Can you use a tub to color a shirt? I don’t have my own washer and other tenants probably wouldn’t appreciate me using the apartment building laundry.

I would recommend using a large bucket or pail for dyeing instead of your tub. That's what I did when I was a renter. You could ruin your tub by using it as the dye vessel for your project. You can put the bucket into the tub, of course, especially if you are using hot water from the tub tap. Good luck!
