I use cheap wired earbuds to help me fall asleep and this kind of adapter is the only way to plug them into my phone while charging. First one worked great for 6-8 hours a night for ~7 months, then it started not connecting properly unless I wiggled the wire just right so I bought another. Still good enough for the price and I don't want to shop around anymore.

My wife’s iPad Pro had a similar adapter that quit working, so we went to the Apple Store thinking that we would get a 100% compatible replacement. We bought a Belkin Rock Star adapter, and my wife explained that when she used the Belkin Rock Star adapter, her iPad Pro would start to heat up along with the adapter. We returned the adapter for a refund at the Apple Store, and ended up buying this instead through Amazon, and it has been working great ever since. It’s also a lot less expensive and less bulky than the Belkin Rock Star adapter.

Moving to a phone with no headphone jack sucks, but this item is making life a little easier for me. My car doesn't have Bluetooth capability, so this is exactly what I needed to keep listening to music from my phone in my car. So far no issues and I am very happy.

Straight out of the package, first use, the headphone jack was a joke. My iPhone struggled to recognize it as an audio output, so I had to unplug and plug it back in a couple of times. And when it did connect, there was persistent and fairly loud static that drove me bananas. Then the audio was super quiet and would crackle occasionally. Plugging my charging cable into it worked just fine. Basically this will work in last resort scenarios when you need to charge your phone and listen to something with headphones at the same time, but don’t expect to have a decent listening experience.

I tried a difference brand first and the static poor connection noise was terrible. This one so far has been solid so I can charge while listening to music from the phone at the same time with no cracking and popping noise.

Most phones these days do not come with a 3.5 audio jack, most headphones or ear buds are wireless. I am old school, and while skiing I like to have wired, for many obvious reasons. This was purchased to add the 3.5 audio jack, I don't typically have a charger (battery pack or other) with me so I don't know how well that works. It did seem to work, but honestly I only plugged it in once, mostly just to see if it worked. There is no volume control on these, but I didn't want to give it low stars, just a misleading question. No difference between the headphones plugged directly into a device versus via this adapter so sound quality is good.
