No. Generally, maltodextrin comes from corn, rice, or potato starch. It also can be made from wheat. The starches are cooked and then acids or enzymes are added to break it down further, before resulting in a white powder. This product contains; Lutein, free lutein, marigold flower extract, zeaxanthin, and hypromellose - vegecapsule.

Would this replace, add to, or detract from the bausch &lomb preservision with areds 2 lutein for macular degeneration?

I am a retired physician. My entire family has macular degeneration. Besides that a portion of my retina was separating and as soon as I was in a dark room I would see flashes of light. After taking Lutein 30 mg with zeaxanthin for a few months the flashes cleared up and no progression of MD . So I would add this to the Bausch formula.

Are these pills manufactured in a place that also manufactures shellfish, or nuts?

On the Amazon site for this item, the seller lists the ingredients used to make these. They are vegecaps not gelatin caps. The active ingredients are plant based and there are no fillers. No animal material used. I would consider this a vegan product but you could contact the seller or manufacturer for more info.
