Thin isn’t always good
I had many of these packs before and they are normally very good. This batch however was very poor. The recording surface- the metallic bit between the plastic protection layers is no so thin you can see your hand through it. This is bad because it’s where the data/music is stored and laser is an optic digital pickup. So it’s easier for 0&1 to be confused. That means more error correction processing and a full buffer/skipping when mobile like in a car CD player. They used to be very good now I’m considering changing brands.

Waste
I have been using the same burning software for years with very few unsuccessful operations. I always use branded disks and thought I would try Verbatim for the first time. I "wasted" approximately 15 disks in trying to burn three. I upgraded the burning software just in case but still so many wasted attempts. These disks are not fit for purpose. Along with other reviewers here, I cannot go through the procedure of returning the faulty disks to get replacements that most likely wont work either. Will have to try again with some other disks. Any recommendations here?

Problematic
For the first time since switching to Verbatim CD-Rs, I'm faced with a problem: the first two blanks I looked at were visibly flawed. They had black deposits embedded in the burn surface. An attempt to burn material onto one proved it was a dud, as I'm sure the other one was. The rest of the spindle look OK, but I've yet to test them to see whether there are any more duds. Very disappointing, since the problem is caused, not by the seller, but by poor manufacture.

I should have read the reviews first
Not realising that there might be problems with blank CDs I didn't bother to read the reviews before I purchased this pack of 50. Big mistake! When the first 2 or 3 discs failed to record I assumed there was a problem with my computer, and it was only when I looked back on my order to make sure that I'd actually bought recordable discs that I thought to look at the reviews. Like others before me, I now know that in order to find a couple of discs that actually do the job they were bought for I have to go through about ten and throw away eight of them. The only good thing about my purchase is that I bought a big enough pack to be able to waste most of the discs, but it's made the few good ones rather expensive.

Not audio CD-R
Be aware that these may not work in your dedicated Audio CR recorder (my Yamaha recorder doesn't recognise them). They work fine in a PC and you can record music (I used iTunes to burn the CD), but a CD player won't recognise the disc either (Marantz CD player). I've used TDK Audio CD-Rs in all these situations and they work fine. So the description by the manufacturer is a little misleading (or not full enough): "ideal for sharing computer data, home videos, photos and music." Music to play on your PC, yes; but not your CD player.
