High quality rosin for a reasonable price.
I've played the violin for more than twenty years and used numerous brands of rosin.I really liked this product for several reasons; First, the bow hair takes up the rosin easily without producing alot of dust. I've also noticed a distinct improvement in sound quality and bow draw across the strings. Some rosins feel sticky on the strings or not sticky enough producing off-sounds.This rosin performed exceptionally well and I will put it on my "buy again" list.

The best rosin for your dollar
The media could not be loaded. This is by far the best rosin I've used in my violin essentials. It goes on smooth and the packaging is not only unique but effective in protecting the rosin from cracks and breaks. Five stars are more than earned.

Good quality rosin, a step above what probably came with your violin outfit.
I had ordered the carbon fiber bow from the Fiddlerman and wasn't really getting the sound I wanted out of it with the "student grade" light rosin that came with my violin outfit although the rosin seemed to work fine with the original bow. On a whim I decided to try this rosin, and I'm glad I did. It applied easily, and really seems to improve the tone and raw of the Fiddlerman carbon fiber bow. The tone is much improved with less squeaking and whistling. I realize that, as a beginner at the violin I may not be qualified to judge this, but, that's my impression at least. The rosin comes nicely packaged in a two part plastic box with a magnetic closure, making accessing the rosin a snap. The only issue is that the rosin is attached to the base with a dab of hot melt glue which doesn't want to adhere to the plastic base. As a result, the rosin arrived in the mail rattling around inside the box and a bit chipped around the edge. Perhaps a different glue needs to be used in production to prevent this.Otherwise, a fine product that performs as it should (as far as I can tell).

Great when it isn't broken!
Tip for first time use on brand new bow hair, give the rosin a little scuff to start with. I used a little file from a pocket knife. Otherwise you'll just be rubbing glass-smooth rosin on clean, dry bow hair and nothing will transfer. With a little scuff to get it started, rosin transfers with ease to new bow hair! First order arrived in a package with zero padding. Obviously it arrived destroyed. Was able to have second item shipped and arrived in one piece, even with very little padding. Just a small bit of padding would help avoid broken orders! Rosin performs great!

Good grip on the strings
I'm constantly looking for more "bite" on the string (cello). This is as good a rosin as I've found. Two provisos: first, I've learned that rosin gets sort of stale after a while. My previous cake of Holstein still had plenty of rosin on it, but after a year or so, I was losing the grip I wanted. Bought a new cake and the problem was solved. At the price they charge, that's no problem. I take one star away for presentation because the cake is glued to a piece of wood, and then covered by a wood top. Very attractive, but it makes the cake twice the size of the product, and therefore difficult to fit into the small pockets of my case. Have to carry it in my purse to rehearsals. And from personal experience recently, I can tell you that when you drop it while rosining your bow, it will break just as quickly as a cake packaged in cloth or foam!

-It's a beautiful red color that even its specks look like hinalayan ...
wow. Just wow. I've had 3 rosins in my 3 years of violin playing... Hill, Jade and this one and this just tops the charts for me! Been using it for a month now so this should give me a fair reviewpros:-It's a beautiful red color that even its specks look like hinalayan salt (pink) and it is my favorite color ... Very elegant to look at from the magnetic case to the rosin. I love the design of the cake as I can easily evenly rub the rosin on my bow.- LOVELY SOUND! It not only looks nice... It sounded to my violin warm, full and buttery smooth! My violin has a warm, 'masculine' yet sweet voice and I think this rosin enhanced it :) if my violin had a personality it would be the warm, sensitive and boy next door type :)- Despite being a bit pricey, each penny was worth it as I'm sure this would last me ages (and even of it didn't, I'd still buy it again because it made my practice sessions quite enjoyable)- superb customer service! The follow up was awesome!- I love how I wouldnt need to use a different rosin for the cold and warm weather. VERY cost effective :)Cons:-Quite dusty BUT it doesn't bother me because it sure looks like snow and I'm not asthmatic.- a bit fragile but not as expected. Ive read some reviews about this issue hence I was a bit cautious that it might break and it did crumble somewhat where the frog meets the rosin but once I got a hang of a technique so that it wouldn't touch... Voila :)Overall, an awesome product and I highly recommend you try it too :)

Rich tone
Provides a rich earthy tone. I’m pretty picky about rosin, but love this one!!

Wish I got this sooner.
I'm a few months in learning the cello, but this makes a huge difference with my bow compared to the cheap stuff, not sure how to explain this but it sounds less screechy, it's a lot smoother and I can bow lighter and it still produces good sound. And there's very little dust! The Rosin was in great shape, not cracked like the cheap rosin I started out with. The container it comes in is such a great idea, and the magnetic lid makes it simple to use - all you have to do is align the tiny magnets.
