5 stars because it is what it says it is. I really love the self retracting line, other products I was looking at were manual crank re-winders but this one is completely automated which means one less thing I have to worry about. I have not taken this out for a full hunting season yet but I do not expect any problems as far as durability. The line seems strong enough to last a long time. As the other comments have said, the line is thin. It saves weight and makes it less bulky but it can be a bit hard to grip. Not an issue for me but something to think a bout. I use it for a compound bow and it's fine, if you use it for anything heavier it may be an issue. The only thing I would change is the size of the clip. I wish it had a larger clip on the end that is carabiner style. So much better to have too big of a clip than one that is too small and you cannot change. Really like this product overall, though.

I hunt from a saddle and have this clipped onto the saddle belt. It works great as its is designed. I fought loose ropes getting tangles in brush or on my steps. This keeps a taut line as I climb without ever lifting the bow off the ground which is great. As I haul the bow up it retracts the line just right.the line is a little thin given the size of the retractor. I was thinking it would be 1/8" cord, but its more like 100 lb braided fishing line. You need two hands and have to watch as its hard to get enough purchase on the line to keep it sliding. To that end, I'd love if the lock/unlock switch had a third position of "locking retract" where it would retract as it had slack line, but then wouldn't pay out line if pulled on.

I like the retractability of the retriever but it is a little bulky and big. All and all good product. Works great

this is a perfect tool regardless you are saddle, hunting or gun hunting decided he added to set up

This works great however the line is very thin and starts to burn especially if you don't have gloves when lowering your gear. When hoisting my gear it seems the internal mechanism is incredibly loud. I think I may return this and switch to paracord.

I love this product as it has become my go to to hoist my gun up into my tree stand! I removed the clips on it and used parachord as it is much quieter. Happy with my purchase!

What you should know:-The string is super thin braided cord that makes it hard to pull up/ lower your bow without it cutting into your fingers- the locking mechanism is a joke, does not work.-it is NOISY. As a saddle hunter, I will be going back to good ole Paracord, because the wheel/gears in this thing as it retracts make a godawful loud noise.- you're better off using a retractable dog leash, I literally think it would be better than this product

Love this device. I put him in the water bottle holder of my backpack and when I'm climbing the tree in my saddle the string comes out and usually doesn't get caught on anything. Great little tool for all the bow hunters out there!
