🚀 Elevate Your Projects with Cutting-Edge Connectivity!
The 5PCS ESP-WROOM-32D ESP32 module is a powerful, low-power solution that combines WiFi, Bluetooth, and BLE capabilities, making it perfect for a wide range of applications, including voice encoding and music streaming. With a sleep current of less than 5 µA and 4 MB of external SPI flash, this module is designed for efficiency and versatility, catering to both casual hobbyists and professional developers.

Work very well for appropriate projects
There are newer ESP32 versions, but if you have a simple project (read no video or screen), you can perfectly use one of these chips. They are quite capable and affordable.

Works as expected
Excellent, the breakout board helped develop the prototype before the full PCB. You will need an external programmer with these, but if you're here you probably already know it.

High failure rate
3 out of 5 boards that I received were DOA. I wired them up to a programmer and the modules would not run correctly. I tried to write a new program to the memory and it would still fail to run, with the serial output showing it constantly rebooting. The other 2 units worked without issue, and accepted new programs as well.Even though the 2 modules worked correctly, the high failure rate of the overall match makes this listing a risky buy at best and a scam at worst.

All 10 works perfectly.
All 10 works perfectly. I like these, because I make my own PCB's. Will buy more.

Good value for an older product
These are ESP-WROOM-32D, which is now NRND (Not Recommended for New Designs) as it has been updated with the the ESP-WROOM-32E. For 99.99% of the individual (meaning, not product manufacturing) use cases, this won't make any difference and work great. The newer E is based on the ESP32 version 3 (whereas the D is the ESP32 version 1 or 1.1). Another difference is this version (D) presents the internal PSRAM pins whereas the E does not - but it's very rare that those pins are useful. If you are experienced with ESP32, SMD/SMT soldering and prototyping, these might be a good fit. If you are new to this, consider getting a more traditional dev kit that has the built-in USB, switches, LED and power regulator as otherwise you would need to design a circuit / system to add those capabilities before you can use the chip (or, look at getting the test jig for this chip which allows the chip to "snap in" and provides these necessary programming/power features).

If you need a bare esp32 module
These arrived very clean still in tape packaging, have had zero issues with them. Would buy again
