Had some issues with my 12 yr old (!) Solar water heater, needed to replace sensor and circulator pump. Was not sure of the controller, and since the tank and roof sensors were 10k NTC, I bought this meter to troubleshoot. Could have built it into a small case with switches, etc., but instead simply attached a 9v battery with some "sticky tape" (used for weather-sealing outdoor coax) to the bottom, bought some wire leads with connectors ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076JFFDWN ) and wired them into my sensor leads. Very quick and dirty works perfectly to get temp readings from the tank, roof, and water faucet by simply attaching the relevant lead to the back of the display module. Allows easy adjustment of hot water temperature, will buy another on shortly. Calibrated nicely at 32 degrees in an ice bath, did not check high end. Note reading will only up to 167 degrees F, above that flashes "HHH". Similarly low end flashes "LLL" when sensed temperature is too low.

Added This to my Jeep for outside temp reading. Bright display. Accurate. Looks nice. I ordered a second one.

4.5 stars. The one I received can not be calibrated. It's a single pcb directly soldered to the led display with no pot. I tested and accuracy was within one degree from other instrumentation. It is super bright, and for my use I added an amber film to dampen the brightness. Wires can be extended as needed.

Using this thermometer on my motorcycle to measure ambient temp. Was using an LCD fish tank thermometer but did not last and was not readable at night. Out of the box this thermometer was reading 2 degrees high (Fahrenheit). As others have described, you can calibrate the thermometer which is a really great feature.Detach the circuitboard on the back of the unit. There is a small phillips head screw which is on the right upper area of the internal side of the circuitboard you just removed. Blue arrow pointing to screw in photo. I had the thermometer hooked up to a spare 12v battery. Turn the screw counterclockwise to decrease the temp and clockwise to increase. The ambient temp in the room was constant and I calibrated it to the temperature on the thermostat in the room.Haven't yet installed it but don't expect that to be very difficult. We will see how bright it is and how long it lasts in real life. I may attach a switch to it to turn it off if it is too bright at night.Update: Ambient air thermometer installed on motorcycle and have been using for months. Biggest problem is that it is very difficult to read during the day. Impossible in direct sunlight. Easy to read and not too bright at night. I have it on a switch so I only switch on to check the temp and turn off. Deducting 1 Star.

I purchased two of these. Neither one worked correctly. The leads for power and the thermal lead are extremely short and would not work for the application I purchased them for.

Ordered two after receiving them one numerals would not light completely. Item was replaced quickly and without any hassle. Good quality for the price and service.

It's accurate at about 1F.I tried with 10ft of very thin wire and it did not affect the value, so don't worry about adding wire length.Dimensions of the opening if you want to do some 3D printing should be 45.4x27.5mm and the thickness of your panel should be about 1.5mm ideally in order to fit well with the little things that hold it in place. Count about 31mm deep for everything to fit with the wire sockets.Now if you also want the border to insert in your panel so everything is leveled, that part is 47.85x29mm and is 2.7mm thick.

I bought two of these to put in my xbox 360 dev kit and they work quite well, the blue lights are easy to see the response time to increasing temperatures (I put the probes under the heat sinks right next to the cpu and gpu dies) witch surprised me and only maxed them out a few times while trying to get the consoles temperatures under control. I know these arnt exactly for this but they do the job really well. If I plan to do more consoles with these temp monitors I'll purchase more from this seller!
