HAIN Compatible OBD Diagnostic Adapter with 20 pin to 16 PIN OBD2 Connector for BMW E36 E39 X5 Z3

Worked for me, allowing me to read codes from my ABS module on a 2/2000 BMW E39.I could not read the ABS codes on my Creator 410 OBD2 reader through the regular port by the driver's shin. But this adaptor allowed me to read the codes via the 20 pin port under the hood.Tight fit into the 20 pin port, but worked well.

No issues with my E36 Z3. One day the old one I had for many years stopped working.Note that with older cars such as E36 you may need to use a serial ADS interface instead of the more common USB K+DCAN. For example even though my car is year 2000 I can't read the ZKE module.

I had originally tried programming by using the OBDII port next to the driver seat, but nothing was working and I was getting frustrated. Finally, I found a post online that said the OBDII port was only for the essentials, and I actually needed to plug into the port under the hood, which meant I needed this cable. Hooked it up and worked the first time!

Save your money e36 port did not work with this tool and the scanner

Purchased to use with ISTA and everything went great. Pins are set up correctly for all functions. DME/TCU/EAS/SRS were all accessible on my E53 and E38

Needed to diagnose my airbag light but couldn't do it from the OBD2 port (1997 Z3). Hooked into the diagnostic port and solved my issue. Cheaper than taking it to the dealer and now I can offer a service!!!
