Premium Beard Care Package for a Great Price
I really like these products. I was looking for a "kit" with beard wash, oil and balm all in one, for about $30. This package met that criteria and also included a boar bristle brush. I think when you are looking at the price of beard care products, its helpful to remember that for most beards, this is probably a 2 month supply (or more). I don't have a Willie Robertson beard, but mine is probably average to just a little longer than average, and I think I will get at least 2 months of use from these items, based on my experience with other products the same size.PROS:-Quality product for a great price. You can just tell these are high quality items, from the packaging to the way the balm melts quickly and smoothly. When I use the wash (2-3x per week), the oil and the balm as part of my morning routine, man it just all comes together and makes my beard feel really soft and healthy. It also looks healthier and is easy to manage. I've also noticed that my beard seems more tame the next morning, too. I used to wake up with my beard looking like my kids' morning hair, just all wild and sticking out everywhere. Since using Mountaineer brand products, I could wake up and walk out of the house without touching my beard if I had to.... Uh, not that I would do that. I enjoy my beard care routine.-Works great. My beard is much softer than before and I've noticed the scent lasts longer than previous products I've used (more on that in a minute). As I said before, the balm melts almost instantly in my hands and is a very smooth, buttery consistency (I've had other brands that were still lumpy when they melted, no matter how much I rubbed my hands together).-Fast shipping, came as described, good follow up from the company to be sure I am happy with my purchase.CONS:-I'm not 100% sure about the scent I got (WV Coal). When I first put it on I think it smells vaguely like Vicks Vaporub (that stuff your mom used to put on you when you had a cold). However, as the day goes on, I will catch a whiff of it and as it weakens a little it smells much better. I have noticed that compared to other brands I've tried, the scent of this lasts MUCH longer. Not in an overpowering way, I can just occasionally throughout the day catch a little bit of the scent, whereas with other brands I've tried, the scent is completely gone in less than an hour. As it relates to the "vaporub" scent, I have tried a product before that smelled EXACTLY like vaporub and never smelled any better throughout the day. This isn't like that at all. I honestly can't quite pin down whether I love the scent or hate it.-I didn't like the canvas bag, it gets those little burlap fibers everywhere. This wasn't a problem for me really, I just threw the bag away since I keep this stuff in my gym bag anyway. There are options for other bags if you are willing to pay a little more, or you might just keep them in your bathroom cabinet. Everyone's routine is going to be a little different and the bag should not be a deal breaker for anyone.-This last one isn't technically a "con", more of a suggestion. I already had a boar brush; I would have really liked to have had the option to choose a nice high quality beard comb instead. Like, give the customer an option to choose between a comb or brush, I think they are about the same price.SUMMARY: At the end of the day, without question I will buy this again, however I will most likely try another scent, probably the original. This is PREMIUM beard care, and they have a lot of different options on their site. Try it out, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Review of all scents offered! (sorry...kind of a long review!)
I have been able to try all of the scents that Mountaineer carries for their beard oil, so here is my review of each!I will put them in order from my top pick to my least favorite. Ultimately, I have been happy with all of their products I've tried. The beard wash, oil and balms have been great for me, and have made my beard soft and smelling great! I haven't had any real breakouts or issues with any irritating my skin at all. I think the only time I had a very minor irritation, and one very tiny blemish, was when I tried different scented oils back to back for a couple of days, without washing my beard in between. They suggest to only wash with the beard wash up to twice a week, so I did that. I think if I didn't change the oils, I wouldn't have had an issue. Since then, no problems at all, because I wash before switching oils.FYI: I just noticed they started selling a sample pack of each of their oils on their website. It is a good price to try out all their options to see what is your favorite! The description in parenthesis is their description of the scent off their website. My thoughts are after that!#1: Timber (Mild Scent of Cedar & Fir Needle) - This is my favorite scent so far. It does have a woodsy smell, much more than the other scents. Not so much "christmas tree" needles smell, but more of the cedar side. The oil and balm both have the same scent. The Wash is quite a bit different, in my opinion. To me, it smells like a cave! It immediately makes me remember my times spelunking and touring caves! It has that limestone smell to it. I actually love it, but it may surprise people. But, it washes off immediately, so it is not long lasting at all.#2 - Coal (Sage with hints of Peppermint & Patchouli): At first, I didn't think I liked this much. But after my second time using it, I absolutely love it! The sage and patchouli are the defining scents here. However, the minute I smell it, it reminds me of working on cars with my dad when I was younger. Like a mixture of what you'd smell in a garage...hard to describe. Oil, antifreeze, grease...manly! I hope I'm not turning people off by that, but it is just the memories it brings to me when smelling it. It is actually very pleasant smelling! In fact, my wife and female coworkers always make a comment about how good it smells! I've only tried the oil so far, but am purchasing the whole kit today.#3 - Citrus & Spice (Warm Clove with hints of Orange and Grapefruit): This is definitely the more "sweet" smelling of their products, however, I would say that there is more of a spice smell, instead of the citrus. Definitely the clove stands out. It is great! This one and the Coal one are battling it out for the #2 spot for me! I do feel that this scent wears off fairly quickly, compared to the others, though. I've only tried the oil so far.#4 - Pine Tar (Strong Scent of Pine Tar (Pine Tar is effective at combating dry skin and this scent is designed for effect not fragrance)): When I purchased the Pine Tar kit, I had no idea what Pine Tar was supposed to smell like. I thought it would be like the sap from a christmas tree...but I was way wrong! Pine Tar smells like smoke. Smoke from a campsite basically. So, I was quite taken back, and hated it at first. But, it actually grew on me after a few tries. It is still my least favorite of all the scented ones, though. I will not purchase it again, but will use what I have after I warmed up to it. As the company's description states: Pine Tar is designed to combat dry skin and dandruff, and not for a fragrant effect. But, if you like smokey smells, this is right up your alley!#5 - Barefoot (Unscented): Just as it states, this oil has absolutely no scent that I can detect. It is just oil to use when you want a soft beard, but don't like smelling like a scent. So, for that, I can say that it is 100% perfect, because there truly is no smell at all. For me, I like the scented oils, so that's why this is last on my list. I toyed with putting it above the Pine Tar scent, but I would rather have a scented one over none.Overall, I love this brand of beard oils, and the scents they have! I do with the scents would last a little longer throughout the day (some do!), but it's kind of normal for them to fade as the day progresses. Good stuff, though, and the company worked with me when I had an issue with an order. Very professional and cares about their customers!

Great products; cheap brush
I love Mountaineer Beard products. As a native mountaineer, I take pride in buying a product grown and named after my home state; more importantly, they're quality products that are way more affordable than most. However, this kit left a little bit to be desired. Let's break it down:Beard Oil--Great stuff. 2 oz lasts me months at a time. Makes my beard super soft and smells like the pine groves of West Virginia. Almost Heaven (pun intended).-Rating- 5/5Beard Balm--Again, stellar product. A little bit goes you a long way; a tin will last you a moth or two. Smells citrusy, yet masculine. Wen used with the beard oil, you smell like the world's sexiest Christmas tree.-Rating-5/5Beard Shampoo--This product is decent. It smells just like the beard oil. It gets your beard clean and soft; however, if you use it daily, it can dry out your skin and leave you with a pretty substantial case of beardruff. To combat this, I only use it every other day. I also condition my beard with a high quality hair conditioner about twice a week. This usually fixes it-Rating-3.5/5Brush--This is where this kit falls flat. the bristles of this brush are far too soft to brush out a beard of substantial length. it just kind of brushes against it. I suppose if you have a short beard, this would do the trick. But for most men who care about their beard, this ain't gonna cut it.-Rating-2/5Overall, you should still buy this kit because its a great value for the products by themselves. just don't expect much from the brush. You're better off buying a wide-toothed wooden comb; it will work better and do a better job of distributing the oil.
