More than attractive. Fully functional and sturdy.
Very attractive and sturdy. This is not a light weight product but a solid strong apparatus that will hold up most anything.

Well-made, great design, but shy a few bolts.
I'm giving this 4 stars for 3 reasons: Firstly, the manufacturer only provides 2 anchor bolts, yet the piece has 4 mounting holes. Secondly, the anchors are not a common style you'd find in your local hardware or big-box store. They are an expansion, drop-in style, internally threaded, anchor bolt with a metric hex bolt. Lastly, no directions or mounting template (ie--what size masonry bit to use, etc, etc).I read other reviews before purchasing this item so I knew I'd be short 2 anchor bolts, and that the bolts may be sub-par quality. The anchor bolts aren't sub par. It's a 2 piece deal: a stainless knurled anchor wedge with an 8.8 grade hex head bolt, so basically equivalent to a grade 5 SAE bolt. I should have measured the wedge, but it appeared to be equivalent to 5/16 inch outer diameter. The hex head was 14mm and roughly 2 inches long (again, I didn't measure) My guess is the torque specs on these are around 25 ft/lbs, and I was very careful not to over tighten them.I had to get the black coating out of the mounting strap's bolt holes in order to easily push the anchor bolts through, so before you do anything, do that. A previous reviewer had mentioned they used a 1/2" carbide masonry bit. I used a 3/8" Bosch BlueGranite Turbo carbide hammer drill bit and could have gotten away with a 5/16" bit as I had to "pre-expand" the anchor wedge a little to get a snug enough fit to lightly hammer into the hole and keep it from turning as I tightened down the bolt. I drilled about 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" into the firebrick. If you know the thickness of your firebricks beforehand, that helps.I decided to just go with the 2 bolts the crane came with. I mounted at the top hole and second from the bottom. I'm going to use it for a bit (with a 5 qt dutch oven) and see if the mounting loosens at all. Because of the style provided, those anchor bolts can be removed so I'm not concerned about any removals in the future. If you're not bouncing stuff on the end of the crane, I can't see anything loosening.I very much like that the crane arm can easily be removed. I have a Rumford style fireplace and it isn't deep enough to allow the arm to swing flush to the sidewall without hitting the back wall, so I'll have to take it out whenever I'm not using it, unless I want to use it as a shoe/hat warmer/dryer. I also like that I can hang additional things from the spots inside the triange where the scrollwork attaches. The crane is hefty and will hold whatever you put on it. So, I'd say if you've been thinking about doing some hearth cooking, get this crane.

BEEFY! Works great in my fireplace
My stone mason installed this during fireplace build in my Rumsford. Fit perfectly and it is very sturdy. Can't wait to cook a big pot of chili in there!

Good quality, cast fireplace crane.
Great addition to the family room. Haven't had a fire since refinishing the fireplace, but man am I ready for the cold weather. I can't wait to cook my first batch of chili!Make sure to have the arm in the sleeves before mounting.I took the advice of others and spent the $5 on heavy duty hardware from Home Depot. Can't say that the supplied was insufficient, but didn't want to take the chance.Make sure to use the correct sized masonry bit. Must pre drill holes if using heavy duty hardware.I must mention that I am handy, but no expert. Lucky for me that I have larger bits, as my screws didn't quite line up. 5 minutes in the garage to make the holes a little larger on the crane did the trick.Good investment and happy for now.Would definitely recommend to others. Good quality and a 15 minute install.Update:First fireplace chili. Awesome experience and definitely not practical, but it sure is fun.I also spent a few bucks at the hardware store and bought a copper bushing to raise the height. See the last photo.

Heavier duty and nicer than it looks in picture
Very nice! It exceeded my expectations. Heavy gauge steel. Decent welds. The floral scroll work looks a little..too much in the pictures but is very nice in real life. Heavy duty masonry fasteners included, but would have been nice if masonry drill bit had been also. I used fasteners I already had with drill bit size I already had instead and it worked fine. I bought the 24 inch. It is actually 24 inches from wall to tip, more like 22 inches from wall to center of hook where pot hangs.I would not hesitate to buy again!

Five Stars
Very sturdy. Well constructed. Has 4 bolt holes, but only comes with 2 bolts. Bad math there.

Perfet for kitchen remodel
Remodeling the kitchen/den area (turning both into all kitchen) and decided to re-purpose the fireplace into a cook area. This is perfect. Gives the fireplace a rustic pioneer feel.I did get larger mounting bolts and drilled the current holes to enlarge for more secure mounting.
