D&D and Magic is a good combo long overdue
I have been playing D&D for a long time, since the early 80's. I didn't see magic in its earliest days, but I did get into it when they came out with an Unlimited set. I always thought a cross over with D&D was obvious but years went by and magic kept making up new things and D&D made a few new editions. When wizards bought TSR I thought a D&D set was a given. I guess that is what I get for thinking. So much time passed and the two kept separate. Then, of all things, they made adventures for D&D that used the many races in Magic and the settings for the worlds in the cards. Always being a my own world kind of guy I didn't have any interest in playing with planeswalkers. I shook my head at the obvious money they were missing (IMO).Now though, they finally made some cards with some Forgotten Realms characters on them. Now I am old enough not to have a large group of fiends like I did ten or fifteen years ago. The cards are awesome and I love some of the looks on them, even though there are a handful of versions of them, most good some great. I am a set collector of magic and have folders full of them. I guess the only bonus of these at this time is I have a good bit more expendable money so good for WoTC but bummer for not having any friends to play with.Great set, I will get a lot more of them and hope that I can meet back up with friends sometime soon in retirement.

Fun to have MTG and D&D finally collide
As a long time MTG and D&D fan, it's been amusing finally seeing these D&D staples translated into the MTG world. I'm very much a casual when it comes to Magic, so I can't speak to how well these new Forgotten Realm cards will influence tournament play for 2022, but for a nostalgia hit, these are pretty awesome. Not to mention seeing all of the new art for some of your favorite D&D characters and monsters.Just the stats, I pre-ordered both a draft booster box and a collector's box, they were dropped on my doorstep on release day. I bought mine directly from Amazon. All boxes and packs were sealed, no signs of anyone opening them before me.The Collector's box filled in some of the spots that my draft booster box left empty, plus gave me some of the alternate art cards. I know there's a lot of divisiveness about the land art, but I'm a fan, mostly because it does hit that nostalgia button pretty hard.
