Just so you know what you're ordering, I took a close-up pic of the inside of the knob.

I had trouble finding the knob I needed at a retail store so I was happy to get this and see that it actually fit ! Looks like it could universal to a bunch of different types. The white matches the wall plates perfectly. And it fits the knob tightly. I have no worries about it falling off.

There is no mention in the description or a picture that shows the back of the knob. This knob will not fit "D" shaped switches. The back of the knob is the important part of the information, not the front!!!!

I bought this knob to replace one that had popped off and gotten lost. The dimmer stem on my wall is round, not D-shaped, and the hole on the back of this knob is exactly the right size and shape. It grips firmly and doesn't seem in danger of falling off.It would be helpful to buyers if the supplier (or Amazon) provided a photo of the back of the product.

Make sure you determine type of knob you need. Purchased a "D" type stem model by mistake before I found this one that fit on the round dimmer stem I needed. Too bad they didn't photograph the stem hole from above so you could see. They could probably sell more if they did.

I needed 10 rotary knobs to replace the off-white knobs that were currently in the house. I ordered 6, at which it stated that was the maximum amount per customer. I emailed their customer service and, to my surprise, they were EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. I asked if they could send me 4 more knobs to complete what I needed. Not only did they send me an extra one for a total of 5, but they didn't even charge me for them! The knobs are exactly what we needed to replace the other ones, and now we have an extra one just in case of anything. I highly recommend these not only for the product, but the excellent customer service and care.

I thought I read the reviews, but I apparently missed that this does not fit ALL rotary dimmers. In the description, it mentions that these are for "standard switches"... but it doesn't fit on our standard late 80's/early 90's dimmers.For the stem this is actually designed to fit, I'm sure it's a great replacement; I just wish there had been a picture of the back of the knob available in the product description so I may have identified before ordering that I needed a different part.

We had been missing our dimmer knob in our dining room since we moved in. Before we put our house on the market, I wanted to make sure it was replaced. It's hard to measure things online, but the housing on this looked the same as the knob we had, so I took a chance on it, and it was a perfect fit and color match. One less thing for a potential buyer to find fault with when we're trying to get top dollar for our home, so it was money well spent for me.

If you don't mind paying the price for this item and it's the right knob for the design of your switch, you'll be happy with it. In my kitchen, this was a perfect fit. I can finally use my dimmer again without my hand experiencing discomfort (old knob came off due to its hole having been hogged out by wild animals who think it's supposed to turn forever). In 20 years when this one breaks due to abuse, I'll gladly order another one. Just make sure you look at the pictures of the back of this item before you buy it. Some nice chap was nice enough to put them in his review so I don't have to.

The rotary dimmer did not fit and the package did not show the back that slides onto the post.I bought one that did fit at my local hardware store for about a third of the price

I needed new knobs for a couple of rotary push-push dimmer switches with approximately 0.19" diameter split knurled shafts. All I could find locally was knobs for D-shafts. I ordered these sight unseen. It turns out they're for 1/4" knurled shafts. I was going to wrap the shafts with tape to make the knobs fit, but first I tried spreading one of the split shafts and it broke. Looks like wrapping with tape may work.

Does not fit my switch. I will have to tweak it -- maybe wrap the switch with masking tape to make it work.

Perfect. Older dimmer in my house for which I could not find a replacement knob with the correct cut out in the back at any big box hardware. Was thankful to find.
