In the battle for a good night's sleep, this is a winner!
This is working really well for me. I'm taking 2 or 3 at bedtime along with a capsule of GABA, also the Now brand, and in the last couple of weeks I've often slept 7 hours straight through, which has been extremely difficult to do for several years. If I do wake up after 5-6 hours and want to sleep longer, I've been able to go right back to sleep. A sleep mask is essential since my room can't be darkened, and I often switch on my white noise machine, set to ocean waves, and I'm out in just a few minutes.I've tried other things that have helped, both herbs and supplements, but I keep trying new things to see what they'll do for me. Since glycine is just an amino acid, it seems very safe to me. The price is right, too!If you're interested in other things to try, here's what has helped in the past (some I currently use or may use again):> Magnesium (Essential for hundreds of processes in your body, most of us are deficient, and it's very helpful for relaxing at bedtime--I've used it for years. The "Got Mag" website recommends 5x your bodyweight in milligrams daily, and also gives advice for the types most helpful and easily absorbed.)> Vitamin D3 plus K2 for absorption (I take 5,000-10,000 IU of D3 per day, in the morning to mimic sunlight. Be careful--it can keep you up if you take it too late in the day.)> Lavender oil (dab some on your wrists and put your hands near your face)> Valerian, or a valerian/hops/chamomile combo> Some homeopathic formulas have been helpful in the past, but they don't seem to do much now> 5-HTP> Tryptophan> GABA> Melatonin (Can be tricky--used to work great, but now seems to have the opposite effect on me if I use it for several days in a row. Some of the products above are precursors to melanonin and I've read that your body converts them to as much as you need--so maybe that's why they work better for me.)> A spoonful of honey before bed (Google it...I still do this most nights)> The adrenal cocktail (Google it...it worked for a while, but my cortisol tends to be too high and I think it works better for those with low cortisol)Since my window shades let in too much street light, I always use a sleep mask, turn the thermostat down to stay cool, and am trying to restrict use of electronics before bed (screens send a blast of blue light into your eyes/brain). I have f.lux (a free program installed on my PC) and that helps, but really you're supposed to avoid all electronics or bright lights for at least an hour before bed. Some wear blue-blocking glasses in the evening. Other things that would help, but which I usually can't do, are getting sunshine, a bit of exercise, and barefoot walking in the early part of the day.Going to bed the moment you get sleepy is very important, but I'm still working on this. If I push through that initial sleepiness because it's "too early," as I too often do, I get a "second wind" (which I now know is a surge of cortisol) and then it may be hours before I get sleepy again. Then I also wake up too early, and it's a vicious cycle. This is all related to stressed adrenal glands/poor adrenal function, and you can learn more by reading Dr. Wilson's book http://www.amazon.com/Adrenal-Fatigue-Century-Stress-Syndrome/dp/1890572152/ or Dr. Christianson's book http://www.amazon.com/Adrenal-Reset-Diet-Strategically-Proteins/dp/0804140537/ or just searching online for information. Sweetener & longevity supplement
It’s just an amino acid but I mostly take bc as I age bc we only make 3g a day & need much more, closer to 12-15g a day by body to support other processes like glutathione, heme, creatine & collagen synthesis, so it’s anti-aging, but also mimics methionine restriction to counter a high meat diet (I eat 1lb chicken/day bodybuilding) so more glycine can offset potential long term damage from too much dietary methionine on organs from meat shown in mouse studies; so why not? it’s cheap and a great sweetener that actually regulates blood sugar similar to allulose. Also many human studies showing great for oral health & keeping blood sugar low as well as helping sleep (increases brain serotonin), great for improving gut health & even immunity as well as being a building block of protein. So I’d rank it at least A tier possibly S, up there with creatine, maybe better depending on RCT studies u believe. It’s not gonna be as sweet as sugar but for most of us these days that much sweetness is too much anyways, imho.

It helps me, but
I take one capsule at night. It does help me fall asleep, but I do have some weird and scary dreams.

Not improving my sleep, but seems to help with the mood a little.
Maybe it's the problem with my body, but using it for 7 days now (3 pills before bedtime) - no effect. GABA+5HTP works (3x750g GAPA + 250g 5HTP), but the effect dissipates after about a month of usage. Tried switching to something else to let my body rest from GABA (using same brand) and thought that Glycine would be working, but unfortunately - not on me. Ashwagandha seems to work (1 during day time, 2 - before bed time), but it could be bad on liver, so I am trying to avoid overusing it. Doxylamine succinate works, but it's an antihistamine and it may reduce libido - so, trying to avoid using it... So far, GABA + 5 HTP (has to be together), plus Magnesium citrate + B6 - was the best sleep recipe for me. Suffering from anxiety and 3 AM wake-ups for several years now.

Incredible improvement in sleep
I never write reviews and yet I rely so heavily on them when I purchase a new product. I thought it was time to step up and help other people as they have helped me. This inexpensive supplement has improved my life possibly more than any other . I am a big fan of using herbs and supplements to help my health. I stumbled upon glycine when dealing with another health issue. I read how good it is for sleep. The first time I tried it I believe I was taking other supplements before bed as well . It did not really make a big difference in my sleep. I gave it another try starting about two weeks ago and took no other supplements in the evening. As others have suggested I took it under my tongue as opposed to drinking water with it . I take 2000 mg about an hour before bed . Last night was the first night I slept straight through seven hours . But immediately after I started taking I still was sleeping really well but woke up once a night to use the bathroom. I feel more rested during the day and way more productive . Good sleep is so important and it makes you feel so much better during the day as well as a huge mood improver. I encourage anyone if it hasn't worked for them to give it a try without using any other supplements in the evening. Since I hit this time in my life , my sleep has really suffered . So far, glycine has made a dramatic improvement.
