Must have item for any serious photographer. Allows for accurate color calibration by simply holding it near the subject's face. Grey card also included for accurate white balance adjustment during post processing.

Not much to say.. it’s a great product. If used on a regular basis you’ll want to replace it every year or two to ensure you have the most accurate colors and no faded squares.Do not touch the squares with your bare fingers, the oil can damage it.

A Color Checker has been my standby for decades. It’s very useful for ensuring accurate color in your photography. It was always great in the studio when its traditional large size was not a problem and often a benefit.This pocket size version is a lot easier to carry and use when shooting in the field. As a bonus, larger white and middle gray panels are available if you need to fill the camera’s field of view. White is more often used in video.

I got tired of having to manually color correcting all my photos. All my lights have stable color temp, but it's still off a little. I would suggest setting your camera to not automatically set the color temp, but to instead each shoot that you use the same lighting setup, take your first shots with the card then in light room you can adjust all the photos at once using the color chart. It's a real time savor.

This one is a replacement for the one I'd been using for several years. They do fade with time and should be replaced every two or three years. The manufacturer says annually but I can't see any difference after one year. They work great and are easy to use, just read and follow the directions.

Review of Calibrite ColorChecker Passport Photo 2.Color check cards are important for photography work. This device is well made. Packaging is good.Only thing I would suggest is adding a 1/8in thread in the hinge to screw it onto something for mounting.

In photography 18% gray is everything a camera is balanced off of. This card has a 18% gray and neutral white side as well as the full color spectrum. Seems great for both video and still photography. The passport is in a nice case, a little bit cumbersome to open and difficult to adjust the size of the opening without the device jumping out of your hand. The notches that stop the passport at specific stopping points are very tactile and significant to the point it's very difficult not not put your hands onto the color balanced squares that would over time change their color.After using the passport for a couple of shoots, I was a bit confused. In controlled lighting situations the neutral gray and white would read two different white balances. I reached out to Xrite and started asking questions. I was told that yes, “the large gray side is 18% and neutral white were the same but not to use them for white balance, use them to white balance in the camera”. Now WAIT!!! Setting WB in camera still uses the same light source, lens, gray and white cards that equal the same results as sampling from a photo taken of the card in post production. Bad excuse Xrite!!! I've used neutral gray cards to pull white balance since day one of digital photography both capturing the card in an image and using the card to set in camera white balance. Xrite asked me to use the full color spectrum side and choose the neutral gray squares that graduate from neutral white to pure black. They recommended the 3rd one from the pure white. Oddly enough the, that's the EXACT SAME COLOR ans the full size neutral gray. I asked, what's the difference and they didn't have an answer but did confirm that they were in fact both 18% gray. Either the individual I've been talking with has no idea or it's just an excuse. They could never tell me why the neutral gray and pure white pulled different white balances, just kept pushing me to sue the smaller squares on the other side that were the exact or said to be the exact same. I tried to ask them "Why use one and not the other when you claim they are the exact same tones?" again, no answer. Their explanations didn't make any since and the fact they still would not answer me on why I was getting different WB readings from the white and gray also concern me. They also don't tell you that there is software you need to also make use of this product. It took me quite a while to find it and figure it out since there were no instructions included. This software is required to be added to lightroom as a plugin. Then you can photograph the full color spectrum side in full frame and go through lightroom settings to create a profile for that situation, lens and camera. They recommend saving the profile with the details of the situation to include camera, lens and lighting. Well, if you own as many lights and different umbrellas that I do, you would have hundreds of profiles. This is not feasible so the end user should be able to rely on the neutral gray and white sampling in their desired photo or video editing software and receive the same readings from all neutral gray and white portions of this product. I feel that for the high price of this product, the customer service needs improvement as well as their information and explanations on an instruction manual with the product that also directs you to on how and where to get the plugins need. I spent over two hours trying to figure it out and I have over 26 years in the photo business.
