Portable Gas Heater 4.5 kW Piezo Ignition Calor Gas Heater With Heating Area 20-60 sqm, Adjustable Heating, 150cm Hose, Clip On Regulator, Free Standing Propane Heater TOUGH MASTER

We are renovating a house, and currently have no central heating, and plug-in electric heaters proved inadequate plus kept tripping the pre rewire system. So I tried an old bottled gas cabinet heater “like granny had” we had stored away and it was clearly a good solution, 4.5kw output and pay-as-you-go gas so no big bill after a quarter. I decided to buy *this* unit because it seemed a cheaper option. However I had overlooked several things. Firstly Granny cabinets run on Butane/ Blue bottle or now “flowgas” butane yellow bottles with yellow cap. These also utilise a 21mm clip over butane regulator. On arrival this unit is clearly fitted with a 27mm clip on regulator, and I learned this suits “green bottle” patio gas only. Note; This is “Propane”. Butane is legal indoors, but it’s illegal to use propane indoors domestically in the UK I believe because the cylinders are under much higher pressure than Butane. So I have decided to buy a second butane “granny” cabinet heater, buy more butane and stay legal. This burner will be ideal for my workshop anyway so no loss, and because I also own an old standard “red” propane tank for a weed burner that uses a “screw in” type regulator I bought this product’s twin brother (see other listing) which just has a clip-on foot to mount direct on this old tank, basically also as a workshop heater to use up the red tank. So it’s been an education, serves me right for trying to be cheap. However 5 stars for the unit because it works perfectly well and chucks heat out but it’s been an education regarding gas heaters and legal use. So; this suits green patio gas bottles only. Please note this and you will be fine. I note a 21mm butane regulator is available on here for £10. Up to you.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do, without any issues. It ignites after holding the button down for only a couple of seconds and kicks out lots of heat. I'm very happy with it!

WE USE IT FOR BACK UP IN CASE OF POWER CUTS, VERY GOOD HEATER

This could've been a 5/5 but there were a couple of small 'issues". I couldn't get the fire to stay lit, each time i released the pressure on the knob the flame would go out. No matter how long i kept the knob held down, the flame would go out each time. I checked the connections & tightened them because they were loose & was at my wits end as to what was wrong & had printed out a returns label (BTW you're expected to pay for return delivery if the product isn't wanted, not a good move) & decided to give it one more go. I found another tiny nut was loose & tightened that up, pressed the gas knob, hit the lighter button, flame & heat burst out from the fire & 10 seconds later i released the knob & it stayed lit. I've turned it off & on multiple times since & it has stayed lit so i'll be keeping this.It does give out a good amount of heat & warms up my small workshop space (8' x 4' x 8') quite quickly on full blast & i have to turn the heat to minimum once the space is up to comfortable temp.
