This is for self teaching, or to start playing the instrument at a entry level. Adults and maybe some kids 5 + need to able to read and understand the basics of music reading. Is entry level but it would be so much better to couple it up with videos or an actual teacher. Then it would be extra practice.

Easy to follow & understand, especially for a beginner.

Starts with basics that many other books skip. It's nice to have all basic techniques and exercises in one book: plucking, fretting, muting with each hand, useful muting exercises, 3 fingers per 4 strings near the nut, 4 fingers per 4 strings on higher frets, etc.There are too many errors in this book to give it 5 starts. For example, the tabulature for E and F on the same string is identical in the book, but must be different on the instrument.

Bought this for my 12 year old daughter to help her learn how to play the bass I got her for Christmas. It's very easy to follow along and to read.

This looks like a good instruction book for learning how to play the bass guitar. It was a gift purchase.

It covers what you need to know, clearly and in an interesting way. Definitely value for dollar.
