This item works just as intended. It will convert a **40 Pin 3.5 inch HDD (PATA)** so that you can plug it into your PC using SATA connectors. It is straight forward and SIMPLE to use. A previous review explained it perfectly.I recommend the Vantec converter so you can also go through usb.Only con I can find is that the hardware is very small, so it can be considered "delicate". Just take care when plugging it into your 40 Pin HDD, no need to force.1. Plug the hardware into your 40 Pin HDD.2. The smaller side of the 4 Pin molex cable was already plugged into the board when I received it; the big side goes into your HDD, so it almost seems like the whole thing is plugged into itself. I took care to make sure that yellow black black red was connected correctly.3. Then you just need your sata cables (data and power). Once again, I recommend Vantec IDE/SATA TO USB 3.0 Adapter, so you can do all of this easier.Many thanks to the creator of this item!

Good for my old RW-DVD. It is reuse on my new computer.

I ordered this item to connect an old, but very special CD-ROM drive with an IDE interface to a more modern computer and it works perfectly: The drive is recognized as an optical drive and works perfectly. Do not forget to set you’re drive’s jumper to ‘Master’, or it won’t work properly.I’m subtracting one star because one of the power wires came out of the Molex connector. I could have returned it for a replacement, but I chose the quicker way and fixed it myself.

Funktioniert ohne Probleme an einem rund 20 Jahre jungen DVDRAM Laufwerk (GSA-4167B) welches einen IDE Anschluss besitzt und im Tower nur noch als Platzhalter dient, das Motherboard ist ein Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro V2.
