Anyone ever try this on cardboard? how does it do?

I used it on plastic folders and a vinyl tote bag -- worked easily! I think it can work as long as the thickness is 1/8 inch or so.

Works great, but how am i supposed to see what i am punching? i even put down marks and i can't see the marks. my holes are not aligned at all.

I had the same problem. Had to leave the collection tab open and punch over a trash can. Ended up buying the McGill instead. Works as it should and has the same 2” throat. Item model number is MCG53700C

Why does the title say deep throat?

It's because it has a deep throw. In other words, you can go deep into the paper rather than just on the edges. This is useful if you're punching holes in the paper for things other than putting paper in a 3 ring binder. I use this for hanging signs on my gate for delivery drivers. If I put the holes in with a short throw punch chances are that the wind would cause the holes to tear to the point that the sign would fall off.
