Honestly, I don't know how important it is. I have a clear plastic 1-cup tub I put it in and keep the rest in the bag, but I store both in a closed cabinet. I don't see how UV can affect it as long as it is not in a window, so as long as you don't notice a change in the amount of pain relief, it will be fine.
