I've been doing encaustic art for years. My older version of this iron finally died a painful death from having been dropped on the studio floor one too many times. I was thrilled to get this from Amazon at a better price than the original iron. Great versatility by being able to remove the handle and us it as a flat, hot surface for smaller art. Holds it temperature well. Good piece of encaustic equipment for a beginner or experienced painter.

So disappointed in my last one. Handle broke. Hope this one has a durability to match the cost. Kinda pricey.

Product functions fine and is a great addition to the studio, but a piece of plastic was broken off the corner when I opened the box. I was able to glue it back together but worry about the longevity of the product.

Light weight, easy to handle and it worked for just what I needed it to.

It is a great tool. I loved the ease in handling, I have a problem with my hand due to surgery, but this I worked pretty well. There are limits. Needed other tools for more intricate details.

The handles fall off. They cannot be latched into place. Not a good thing for a hot iron! I returned immediately.

I am disappointed in this product. I did not know until I printed the paid invoice that this iron was a "second". I had read that there was had been several problems with this iron a couple of years ago primarily with the latch weak and the iron separates from the handle and breaks. I decided to have my husband glue the latch onto the handle It was then that the crack was Noticed in the plastic casing above the temperature dial. I do not know if it will eventually completely separate and render the iron useless. Time will tell. I will be very cautious in the future to check seller for Seconds.

My first time using this iron, first time working with encaustics. I love it!Still learning the techniques, but the iron is light-weight and easy to use. Heats quickly and is ready when you are. Great item. My first attempt at abstract art using encaustic paint and this iron.
