Does a good job and is fun to watch.
The bowl looks small, but I doubled the vanilla ice cream recipe that came with it and it made 4 pints. It was delicious! Granted, I have my own eggs and a homemade vanilla extract. (Basically good vanilla beans soaked in a good vodka for a year or so.) The flavor was amazing! First time using it and I'm impressed. I like that the paddle and other attachment are dishwasher safe. DO NOT put the bowl in the dishwasher. I actually read directions for once, and since the bowl comes sealed with liquid in it I imagine a dishwasher cycle would really screw it up. Highly recommend this thing for anyone that wants to give ice cream a shot. It was $99 when I bought it. Kind of on the cheaper side of KitchenAid attachments as far as I remember. It fits my regular KitchenAid, I don't have the fancy bowl-lift one.

Purchased for my granddaughter
My granddaughter is a budding chef and wanted the ice cream attachment for the kitchenaid mixer. It works well, easy to attach, and ice cream is delicious. If you are expecting hard ice cream, this is not the machine for you. This makes a custard type ice cream. And, it is delicious.

Works well. Easy to clean. Makes great ice cream with 6-qt KitchAid mixer bought from Costco.

Great, but need side funnel or something
I really appreciate the functionality of this product, but I found it a bit challenging to add the ingredients. Since it needs to be started before adding the ice cream base, it can be tricky to do so without creating a mess. A side funnel or some sort of guide for adding ingredients would be a great improvement. Overall, it works well, but that small adjustment could really enhance the experience.

Fun addition to my kitchen
I was wanting an ice cream maker for awhile. Lots of friends have the Creami and love it. I read a ton of reviews and ultimately settled on KitchenAid ice cream maker since 1) I already have the KA mixer and love it 2) didn't want a whole extra appliance in my kitchen and 3) have the freezer space to store the bowl in there full-time.The first time I used it, the bowl got hopelessly stuck on the mixer. Took my husband and brute strength to get it off. Not sure why or how, but never was an issue again. Must have just screwed it on the a little crooked the first time? It takes about 20-30 minutes to make a 1.5/2 quart batch. But that's about the consistency of a thick milkshake. Not bad, but I usually make ice cream in the morning/early afternoon to have ready for after dinner. But it makes it super smooth and creamy. I have tried both egg-based custard and just heavy cream recipes. Both delicious. Very happy with purchase.
