Very useful tool

I was quite skeptical that this actually could produce 1 degree accuracy. Low and behold it cannot. If accurate readings aren't necessary and you just want a general range then look no further. If you're trying to purchase something to use for actual data collection this is not the device to buy. My best guess is that the thermocouples included are not quality enough for 1 degree accuracy. I tested the reader by submerging all the thermocouples in Ice water for 30 minutes, none read below 4deg C.After a little bit more testing, I can confirm that the problem is not the thermocouples but the reader. Save your time, buy literally anything else

I tinker with solar heating projects. For my solar hot water tank, it is nice to see the heating fluid temperature, tank temperature, temperature at the tempering valve, and temperature at the backup heater all in one view. This meter suits the need at an attractive price. I use type K thermocouples exclusively, and this instrument reads within a degree or two of actual.

1: If you leave the battery in the unit with the unit turned off it drains the battery until its dead2. when using it, it turns off in after about 30 seconds but still drains the battery.3. It's default reading is in celsius instead of farenheit so every 30 seconds you have to turn it back on and switch it back to Farenheit.I found the thermometer to be, too much trouble to use and junked it.

I noticed the four probes showing very different ambient temperatures. I placed the four probes, at the same time, in a glass of well shaken ice water. Probe 1 = 41.5F, Probe 2 = 40.4, Probe 3 = 143.4F, Probe 4 = 137.4F. I changed the battery with the same results. I changed the ports the probes were in and again saw wildly varied results. This is cheaply made; the K-type connectors felt like they would break when being inserted into meter. I would *not* recommend and I am returning it to Amazon.

Poor production on this item. Not very accurate and it shorted out with in the first hour or use
