Why buy new mulch?
I never knew this was a thing! I bought the black paint which seems to hide everything. I would highly recommend!

Mix 6-8 oz dye to a gallon of water
Shake it well, then mix 6-8 oz of dye with one gallon of water. Follow the instruction, it is ok to use. It is better to put on gloves because it will make a mess when doing the dilution.

too messy to work with
First thing that comes to my mind when remembering my experience with this product is- WHAT A MESS. It is a pretty thick consistency, similar to paint, and comes in a plastic bottle with instructions on it. But I wish this bottle would incorporate a measuring cup with it, because you are gonna need one and it is so thick that you have to make sure that you rinse it all out to be sure you have the correct amount for dilution. Anyways, after I did all this part, I did not realize that the mess is just about to begin. The consistency of the diluted solution is also too viscous to use in our electric spray machine. I got myself a new battery operated sprayer with the intention to use it with this mulch colorant to apply it more evenly, but ended up with a lot of mess to clean up since it was too thick for this sprayer. So I ended up pouring it on the top of the mulch straight out from the container. Talking about color, it does give a dark grey tonality to mulch, but not as intense as real black mulch. I recently applied new black mulch and wanted to color some part of garden which still had brown mulch. Now looking back I wish I would have just purchased black mulch and use my clean up time to replace the undesired mulch. I honestly can not recommend it, it did not work for me, but maybe for someone with different intentions it can work.
