A bit too sparkly and poor packaging
I ordered the ‘plain” frosted film. When the interior lights are on, or when sun is shining on the windows, the effect is “sparkly” vs. just a typical frost. As others have noted, the method in which the film is attached to the cardboard tube at the end, mars the film, so you can’t use the last ~1”+. The second roll I received the outside of the new roll was basically a rubber band under the plastic wrapper. This also dented the film to the point of it leaving a visible line when applied for the first ~6”. And the roll is so tight around a small tube, that it curls pretty significantly, making it hard to deal with. I did find that if you took it off the roll and weighted it down flat over night, it was easier to measure and cut and remove the liner.Having applied a lot of vinyl film in the past, there are a few tricks that you can use to get a good result. Be impeccably clean. All surfaces, your hands, etc. No dust, pet hair, or anything. Use Sprayway window cleaner both to clean the window, and it makes a great application fluid. You don’t have to mix soapy water or anything. And spray both the window and the back of the film. Once you spray the back of the film, it hangs flat as you apply it and won’t stick to itself. And small handheld vinyl film application squeegees are way better than credit cards or rubber edged ones.

Easy to install
I have a 2500sqft cinder block garage with 6 large windows that are appx 4ft by 6ft. I was able to do 3 windows with the 288" X 36" roll. i made a cardboard template for the 6 panes of the 3 windows. Always use 1 razor for each window as they dull from cutting vinyl. I wet the window and the back of vinyl after I peel off the paper. I used a 6-8" cheap plastic putty knife for joint compound and it worked perfectly. For large windows you need a helper, smaller one you don't. Installation was easy and it looks great. I ordered another roll for the other 3. No need for shades that get dirty and don't let light in.

Fantastic
I enjoy natural light, privacy, and being able to see the sky and trees. I don't want to see my neighbors, and I feel confident that they're not really wanting to see in my house either. These films make all this possible.I'm delighted. We'll see how they hold up over time. They're sheer in terms of not being too thick, or hard to work with - I gave that a 4 because I am not sure what they mean by sheer. They have some visibility of color for things nearby, but mainly it's just diffused light and shadow. In so far as installing them, I found it pretty straightforward, even being injured - I just did one set of windows at a time over a few days.Measure twice, cut once and check before applying. Maybe trimming as needed. I used a clear ruler, which was really handy to properly note and evenly draw the needed lines. The measuring and cutting were the most difficult part, and it wasn't that hard to do. Oh, if you can, lay out the section of the roll to let it flatten first. Makes it easier to handle when it's not curling up on you. They stretch a wee bit when removing the paper backing, so I found cutting a little short to ensure the corners laid inside the edges of the window worked best. I discovered that the edges of some of my windows had uneven sealant, which impacted how the films laid down on the glass.Once placed, the films are easy to adjust, or even pull back and relay if needed. I used my shower squeegee to smooth out the air pockets and make minor adjustments to the placement. It's just slightly soapy water as opposed to some glue, so low risk to adjust as needed.Easy clean up, and the quality of light is fantastic.

Perfection!
This was exactly what I was looking for. It blocks the view, but not the light. My dogs love to sit on my stairs and bark at the neighborhood. Curtains did not work since they could push them out of the way. This film installs just like cellphone screen protectors. So easy to use, it took me 10-15 minutes total by myself to install on my 39x43" window. I cut the piece to size using sharp kitchen scissors (there are 1" lines on the protective backing to help guide/measure), I prepped the window by thoroughly cleaning it, mixed water and dish soap per instruction written on the paper backing, soaked the window (the wetter the better), peeled the paper off the entire sheet of film (it is not sticky, but will cling once on the wet window), started at the top and lined up the film in the corners, used a squeegee( the kind for cleaning windows) starting in the top smoothing down and then out from the center to remove extra water/ bubbles, wipe with a rag or paper towel to remove and extra water, I used a razor to trim excess on the edges of the window, and it is done. Note if there is dirty on the window or if you dont completely soak the window it will not stick. It can easily be peeled back and repositioned until dried. Placed up today, so we will see how it holds up. This is a direct sun window, so I am wondering if the heat/UV rays will cause it to peel over time. Will Update in a few weeks/months, but so far couldn't be happier.
