I didn’t feel like dropping $40 on a soldering set so I purchased this to fix my earbuds, never soldered before but it was extremely easy. I used the preheat function on my 510 battery and that seemed to get the temperature up where it needed to be, too no longer than 11-13 seconds!The tip variety is good as well.

You can use this for more than just soldering... actually, Id wager to say it wouldn't get hot enough to do any real soldering...but it does get to 300F pretty quickly on a standard 510 battery at 4.2v.that's plenty hot enough to melt some viscous oil or wax into some kind of glass or metal or ceramic device, either heated with a torch or electricity. IYKYKWould recommend. I cut a piece of 1/8" id copper tubing into a little scoop/carver attachment for mine.

I recommend these for their general purpose but if you're going to use them in vape mods for example stay at a low voltage or wattage. Visit higher levels the tips of them tend to melt and then they get stuck on the Vape almost welding itself to it other than that good product

The quality of these tips are terrible. I never used my tip above the recommended temperature setting yet it still didn't last for longer than a few uses before every one of the 3 tips I purchased quit working. Very frustrating and disappointing

If you are looking at this product thinking it would make a good hot knife for your wax steer clear. Yeah the tip gets hot but it retains heat much longer than the ceramic ones. Also these things are sharp and can be dangerous. As for a great cheap hot knife I highly recommend the Yocan Wulf Ari

This works well if you're only going to use it for a few sec, if you hold how too long the tip will get red hot and melt, it was on 12 watts.
