Although I do not know whether it was made in China, when I purchased this, it did not have a smell. The quality is very good. I've used mine on several trips with no issues and am very happy with the product.

Q: can palettes fit in the bag?

Some palettes fit. The extremely large one don’t for sure but the essential colors for daily use should.

Q: Does it have a good zipper?

Yes the zipper is very strong and it’s made very well.Reliable double zippers
