Is this product sourced entirely from the United States?

Fear not, there is no reason to run away from Chinese mushrooms that have been grown, extracted, and analyzed at very high standards. Our mushroom experts/researchers have been working with Chinese mushroom growers for over 20 years. All of our mushrooms are grown in selected cultivation areas in China (in the ancient Chinese heartland; the original source of world mushroom cultivation) that is deep in the mountains and far from industrial pollution. We stand by our Chinese partners 100%. Chinese mushrooms are the standard; nobody has more experience or knows medicinal mushrooms better. Mushrooms utilized as nutritional supplements are rarely cultivated in North America, it’s just too expensive. In fact, China produces 70% of the world’s mushrooms. Since it is not economical to grow and sell pure fruiting body mushrooms supplements in the USA, companies will sell myceliated grain, which composed mostly of grain or rice. Laboratory testing confirms that mycelium produced on grain is low in beta-glucans and high in starch. Myceliated grain is not expensive to produce, but lacks the medicinal compounds that make it an expensive product. Any product sold for consumption, that is grown in China, will be required to undergo rigorous testing. All of our extracts are tested twice for heavy metals, agricultural chemicals and microbial contamination to ensure they met the standards set for these categories. All of the mushrooms are processed in designated GMP facilities and all water used in cleaning and processing is purified through ultra filtration systems. What is the extraction ratio?

Thanks for your question! The extract ratio of our Ultimate Mushroom Complex is approximately 10:1. That means it takes about 10 grams of dried whole fruiting body mushrooms to make 1 gram of extract. This ratio is approximate because each mushroom in the blend is extracted slightly differently to optimize for each one. Further, extraction ratios don't necessarily reflect the quality or potency of a product. For example, if a product declares a 20:1 ratio, that might just mean that there was a poor yield on the extraction, and not necessarily mean there is a higher concentration of beneficial compounds. The best way to know is to just check the level of active compounds as printed on the label, in this case 29% Beta glucan. Hope that helps!

Does it taste like a strong mushroom flavor?? Thanks

I don't find it to have a strong mushroom flavor. I find it to have an aroma reminiscent chocolate and the taste is slightly earthy. When mixed straight into water you can experience the flavor but when mixed into coffee or smoothies I don't taste it.

Was is grown on rice/grain beds? What wad the medium?

The mushrooms mostly grow on hardwood, with the exception of Cordyceps. The Chaga and Turkey Tail are wild-crafted, naturally growing on trees logs and stumps. The Reishi, Maitake, and Lions Mane are cultivated on hardwood logs or sawdust blocks. The Cordyceps is cultivated on a nutritious substrate media. Of course, only the actual fruiting body is used in our mushroom products.
