Ant Traps Indoor by Ortho Home Defense 4pk- Metallic & Adhesive Ant Killer Indoor & Ant Killer Outdoor - Ant Trap

I found these easier to open than some other reviewers, opened using a small slotted screwdriver (outside the house). If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would be for the instructions for use indicated how long the product is effective. I'd like to leave these in place for at least a couple more days.Effective: We had about 25-30 visible ants in the middle of a carpeted room throughout the course of the day, as we vacuumed them up and ordered this product. We had to take care of another 15-20 ants before the order arrived the next day. We placed the four baits in strategic locations, including one in the middle of the carpeted room where we noticed the ants, at 6pm. At that point we cheered on any ants that got close rather than picking them up. The next day, 1 visible ant. By the 24 hour mark, and then another 24 hours later, 0 visible ants.I understand the ambiguity between "safe for pets" but to keep away from children and pets. We had to keep a curious cat from "playing." We placed a small plastic bin upside down over one of the bait traps, elevated slightly from the carpet using a couple small plastic lids, and then weighted that bin down with a couple of books.

We purchased the bait stations because two separate ant colonies moved around the house. One was in the garage and the other in the basement. We swept up the areas to make sure there was no extra food sources and put the stations out. The ants started feeding in them the next day. As expected, the ants were around for two or three more days and then they were gone. No ants since last year. Also, the dogs sniffed the bait stations and had no interest in them. No licking or chewing so no consumption of a pesticide.

I give the product 4 stars. 1 star for each trap included in the package. Odorous ants- very small and annoying always seem to find their way into my kitchen come Spring. Once the outside temperature reaches 50 degrees F and above, they come marching in from outside through the window sill. But once I set up & put out all 4 traps the marching ceased. I’m pretty sure they tapped into at least one of the traps I positioned as shown in the photo I have submitted. This leads me to believe the colony and queen are both gone. For good measure I will leave all 4 traps in place to be sure the pests are gone and don’t reappear. In the meantime my countertops and laminate floor will be kept crumb- free as they usually are. My only issue with the traps was with prying open the metal tabs at the base of each trap. I found them to be a little difficult to pop open at first but this is probable due to my own physical handicap: left hand paralysis. I will purchase these again next year if these ants return in Spring which my bet is they will but to their own demise!

Note that this review does not reflect the effectiveness of this product. If your home is free of children and pets it might possibly work for you. However, it's mentioned twice on this description page that it is safe for pets and children. Yet when actually receiving the package today I noticed a warning that bothered me enough to return it. In a clearly noticeable square at the back of the box it states, "Do not store where children or pets may gain access." Duh!So ORTHO, why are you confusing customers like myself? Your uncertainty on this matter has been a total waste of my time. No way am I taking a chance with the welfare of my children and pets. The last time I had an ant infestation problem I used a product manufactured by a company called ZEVO. I was more than satisfied with the results and it contains no harmful chemicals. Time to return using a product I can trust.

Very easy to put out and use and highly effective for what it is intended to do. We had several places in our house in California where ants were invading the space in search of water and in some cases food. Especially around places like where our cat's dishes are kept. We placed a few of these in recesses and areas our pets couldn't reach but along the path the ants took to attack the food and within a few days the ant invasion had been rebuked.

Very good product but took a long time to arrive! Way longer than the two days as promised.

Put these around my house and in one day, a dramatic lessening of ants. Does what it says and although it shouldn't be where pets can access it, the holes are very small, seems pretty safe. I kept it to areas my cats don't access just to be sure. Really worked quickly. Haven't seen any ants in a couple of days.
