Really, really nice storage solution.
I am very happy with this. It wasn't that hard to put together and it's very sturdy. It appears to be solid wood and not veneer. I like the idea of hiding in plain sight as apposed to a gun locker which takes up closet space and really isn't that secure. Only a really large, expensive safe is going to be a deterrent from thieves. Cheaper gun lockers or safes are pretty easy to foil. This just looks like a natural piece of furniture and with the dummy panel you can put in some sheets or blankets to complete the effect. The lock is good enough to keep kids from getting too curious. I sit on this every morning to put on my socks and shoes and it's really, really sturdy. There is space for a few handguns in the bin and it's long enough that you can put some accessories in front of the long guns if needed. Very glad I got this over a closet locker. It looks very nice at the foot of the bed.Note*** I read people complain about the quality. I got the solid wood hope chest and it's really nice. Especially for the price. I didn't get the padded model I'm super happy with it and think the quality is exceptional. My advice is spend the extra money on the higher end models.

Best Bang for your buck!
Do not listen to the negative reviews, you get more than what you pay for, is it bomb proof? No! is it sturdy? YES does it look good? looks Great! the latch on the unit is my only complaint, but can be upgraded as i did. This is the best safe for the money, it is not by any means secure to a criminal or someone highly motivated to get in but will prevent children and possibly theives since it’s inconspicuous. it has adjustable rifle fore-end braces and is all felt lined with air vents, it is fairly cheap material but it is put together very nicely, looks to be tongue and groove with a lot of nails and screws, no staples, it can withstand a 200 lbs man standing on the safe top and cushion top and can definatley withstand kids playing on it, i’m happy i purchased it!

A very good value for the money! Easy peasy assembly, and more than sufficient to the task.
After reading some of the reviews, I opened this box with low expectations. The issues of missing parts, misaligned and missing holes, particle board .... I'm not sure what they were reviewing, but this item is all wood and wood veneers, well finished for the price, easy to assemble with clear instructions, and the hardware included on a sealed backer. Went together from opening the box to installing in the bedroom in one hour and ten minutes with no misassembly. It most definitely is hide in plain sight, the lock will hold even if you pull on the front panel, and it matches the finish on my floors exactly! Came with one damaged cambolt, but an extra barrel nut. Damaged cambolt did not affect assembly. My only gripe is what am I going to do with all this styrofoam packing :-D. I'd highly recommend; it's not fine furniture, but it is very attractive and will do the job.

Amazing
Absolutely amazing item. It locks well, fits into decor and simply wonderful. Easy to access without being accessed easily by children or others. I had an emergency that required fast access to my weapon. I was afraid I was going to have to struggle to access, unlock and retrieve gun partly because of my stress level and having to use a small key. Retrieving the key, lifting the lid, unlocking secured area and grabbing the right gun took less than 30-seconds. Getting the key took the longest. It’s spacious enough that all weapons are visible and easy to grab. Two rifles have scopes attached with plenty of space. The unlocked portion is large enough to store blankets, quilts, etc. It’s most definitely sturdy enough to sit 3 adults. It’s value exceeds its price and is a must have for any home that would like to store anything in a locked cabinet, money, birth certificate, jewelry, gifts, etc without having to buy a standing safe. It’s obviously not fire rated but access is so easy that you could grab important items in a matter of seconds. I’m considering purchasing another one for the foot of my bed. It’s not just for guns

What's Worse Than Made In China? Made In Vietnam.
I didn't think it was possible to find lower quality products than those made in China, boy was I wrong! Made in Vietnam makes made in China seem like a Swiss watch. I give this thing one star just for the packing material everything else is zero stars.First, be sure you have the following on hand as you will be needing them. A small drill bit for drilling pilot holes for the screws, A large drill bit for opening up misaligned holes, a 1/4"-20 tap, lots of super glue, fender washers for the opened up holes, lots of rags, and lots of hours. To call this material particle board or MDF would be an insult. It looks more like a heavily compressed cardboard which flakes away pretty easily and several pieces had what looked like some type of wood filler, luckily they were all facing inwards and on the very bottom. This is where the super glue comes in. On all the pre-drilled holes I put a good amount of it the holes to bind the material together and keep it from crumbling. I also did this to all the holes which I had to drill. That's what the 1/8 pilot drill is for. Make sure you pre-drill all your pilot holes, don't just screw into the little marks as I fear this would just cause the material to crumble. Also, on mine some hole locations were not marked and I had to measure them out.Next you're going to have to use a 1/4" drill bit to open up most of the bottom holes as they didn't line up with the pre-installed hardware. You'll have to apply side pressure on your drill so that you can actually make a slot out of the hole. Some holes had to be opened up so much that I had to use fender washers as the screw would fall completely through the opened up hole.Once I had all my holes drilled out and went to install the screws they would not tighten. Well, I discovered that all of the barrel nuts didn't have any threads. That's what the 1/4"-20 tap is for, you're going to have to thread them. Unless of course you get lucky and yours are already threaded. So after I had everything all lined up and squared, I tightened all the screws down. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN ! The material is so cheap that even a little to much torque will cause the screw to strip out. When putting in the tray I noticed that the joinery was horrible and one of the side pieces was cracking because of the nails. So I put some more super glue into the crack to keep it from opening up more. The inner lid is not fully supported at the back, it has no support underneath it, only at the front. The only thing holding it up in the back are the hinges, with this cheap material I don't know how long it will last. The top lid had marks for the stay open hinges, but the sides did not, so I had to measure those out, and you guessed it more super glue into the holes. After installing the stay open hinges everything seemed OK and it looked like I as coming to the home stretch. I closed the top lid but it took an awful lot of force to do so. When I opened the lid the screws which hold the stay open hing pulled out of the lid. After examining the hinges closely and actually articulating them in my hands I found that they required about 40-50 Lbs of force to open or close because the spring is so large. Well, the combination of the small mounting screws and cheap material make it impossible to use these hinges. They will just rip out. So I got some gas springs which are rated at 22Lbs and have larger diameter screws. This seems to have done the trick as the lid now opens and closes fine. The final part was screwing the feet into the bottom. They went in fine but they look horrible! You can clearly see the seems where it looks like they glued different pieces together and filled any flaw with more wood putty. All 4 of them also had an extra hole on the bottom that looks like it was drilled off center. Maybe they have a blind worker? Finally! Finished! Well, almost. I went to peel off the labels and they just tear off leaving behind a horrible glue residue. You're going to need lots of rags and elbow grease to get rid off it. I didn't use any solvents on it because I was afraid it would destroy the cheap material.Oh, one final thing. This think stinks! I mean it literally stinks, the odor coming off of it is horrible. I've had it for over two weeks now, and while not as bad as when I first got it, it still stinks. In conclusion, an absolutely horribly cheap piece of junk which will cost you lots of time in rework and having to purchase extra hardware for it. Unless you're really handy don't even attempt it. I would have sent it back except that the box is so bad there is no way you'll be able to re-pack it.
