Let's face it -- you probably don't need this item. You're looking at it because you are redoing your closets anyway, or because you used a valet rod at a hotel or a friend's house, or because it just seems like something that occasionally would be nice to have. Well, it is, and this is a good one.Mounting is a snap, and it comes both with wood screws and Euro-screws for pre-drilled holes. For my closet, I was able to use my pre-drilled holes in the front, and these let me easily mark the locations for the rear wood screws. My total installation time was under five minutes. One tip: spend a few minutes looking at it before you install, so that the plastic guard inside is situated correctly (it should sit in a groove inside, although this is not immediately obvious). Figuring out the orientation will ensure that the rod extends as far as it should, just like the picture.Once installed, it looks and works beautifully. Mine moves smoothly and is strong enough to hold my freshly dry-cleaned clothes while I sort them. And its surprisingly nice to have. I didn't realize I would use this on a daily basis, but I do. It's convenient and satisfying to hang that day's suit, shirt, and tie so I can see and readily access everything when I need it. So though I didn't actually need it, I'm very pleased that I bought it.

I am thrilled with the valet rod. My husband installed it and commented, "Wow, they actually had all the hardware included anddecent directions." After using the rod for several weeks now, I am finding it is helpful in many ways. Normally, it is there to"stage" my clothes for the next day or for a special event. Hanging where the clothes are easily visible, I can make sure that they are ready to wear and, since I have a cat, I can see if I need to run my sticky roller over the item before it is worn. Thevalet is also great when I bring things back from the cleaners or my laundry so I can hang them on the rod and unbag them before they return to their normal spot in my closet. The rod is very sturdy and can hold several hangers at one time.Great product. All walk-in closets should have one.

Works great and is very sturdy. It seems overpriced, however. But we are happy with the item.

I like the ease of installation and the sturdiness of the rod. It helps me when coordinating various pieces of an outfit and also gives me room to hang damp clothes. While air drying.I also enjoy hanging outfits whole packing for a trip.

Very easy to install and use. I have limited space in my closet and this valet rod fits most anywhere. They are very sturdy and not intrusive to space.

These gave me quite a bit extra closet space and are really durable. I highly recommend them.

This sounded like the only valet rod that would work in my closet. My shelves are only 11" deep, and the reviews and measurements for the other available rods stated that they body of the rod would stick out an inch further than my shelves. I do not know if this is true, as this rod is 12" counting the stop ball, and they may have also been counting that.Other reviewers stated this bar would stick, but one review pointed out that it is possible to turn the rod to tighten or loosen it. I have not had a problem yet.This location is about the only place I could install the bar in my closet (I could have also installed it on the underside of the shelf. That would have left the top shelf level and smooth for anything I would want to put up there, however, I didn't want to worry that I would overload the bar and that it would tear the screws out and fall.) The rod extends out only about 6", which is less than others, but plenty to hold several hangers for whatever reason I might need to temporarily have them there. But because of the shorter length, I could not install it anywhere that it would need to extend out over my clothing bars, because it is not long enough to clear any clothes/hangers that would be sideways under it.
