The perfect product to add strength to my natural nails 💅
I went back & forth between this product and the Orly Builder-in-a-bottle.... but now that I've had a chance to wear Body Guard (and do a few infills), I'm really glad I chose it! I'm using this product solely as an overlay on my natural nails, and it works wonderfully for that. Body Guard has an easy to control formula, which makes it perfect for beginners - you just swipe it on, exactly like polishing your nails. 👌 This product can also be built up on the nail too, much like a builder gel.I have not experienced ANY lifting, peeling, or chipping with this product. I do prep my nails thoroughly before every application. (My routine is posted below this review, for anyone that may be interested.) ☺The brush does take some getting used to; it's a little too wide for pinkie nails. I work around that by using a small detail brush for nail art, to apply the gel close to my cuticle area. Body Guard is extremely glossy on its own and soaks off easily, which I LOVE. It is also crystal clear and never cures with bubbles. I've not experienced any heat spikes in the lamp with this gel.As a side note: I have a small sidewall break on my middle nail atm (which happened prior to purchasing) and this product is keeping everything together while it grows out (even despite my best efforts to hit, bang, and 😖 bend my long nails back.) Body Guard feels extremely flexible and since I've started wearing this product I have not had any more breaks.Whether or not the infused vitamin claim is true, who knows? But, if it is legit beneficial to my nails, that's even better! I will definitely continue to purchase this product, and may still try the builder-in-a-bottle from Orly next. I really love the results I've gotten with Gel FX Body Guard and I highly recommend it!MY ROUTINE FOR OVERLAY APPLICATION:1.) Remove cuticle growth on the nail plate & push back the eponychium2.) Gently remove surface shine from the nail on new applications/ Buff down old product on infills3. Cleanse & dehydrate the entire nail surface with 91% ISP and a lint-free wipe4.) Do two applications of Primer (Apply to entire nail for new application/ Only on new nail growth for an infill) *If you are prone to lifting, DO NOT skip this step*5.) Apply the gel in a thin layer, making sure to avoid getting product on any part of your skin (*this is important for a long lasting mani*). Cure for 60 seconds in LED6.) Apply a second coat if necessary, to build additional structure. Cure 60 seconds7.) Wipe off the sticky inhibition layer, apply cuticle oil, and DONE.

Better than the Orly Basecoat
First, I use the Orly gel fx nail tip primer, then I use the Body Guard. I have very thin nails and I do a lot of typing. With the normal Orly basecoat, after about 2 weeks, I would get lift on my middle fingers which get a pretty good workout when I type. With the Body Guard, my mani last much longer and I'm getting less lift. I love this product. It can be a little harder to remove but I use an acetone steamer for 2 - 10 minute cycles, scraping in between and then I use a medium grit block to smooth it down the rest of the way so I don't scrape too deep and damage my nail bed.

Really like this product
I use this as my base coat under gel nail polish, under extensions and alone. I love it because I can get the gel back off, whenever I want, without damaging my nails. At first my nails popped off fast, but I kept getting better at prep and painting my nails without getting it in any skin or cuticles. Now I usually get 7-10 days out of my manicures.I had stopped using gel because of the damage but now I can again. Just go slow and get it only on your prepped nails.

Get it if your nails tend to split and break!
I’m a nurse in a hospital who is constantly washing my hands, or using alcohol hand sanitizer throughout my 12 hour shift. This causes my nails to be super brittle and always splits, cracks, and break off!! For the longest time I would use a soak off gel builder to provide a hard layer for my natural nails. It would work but it was sticky and thick. But this product glides on like your regular gel polish, and keeps your nails so hard! It protects all of my nails so well now that I am able to grow it out long. I no longer get split or crack nails ! This is also easy to soak off like your regular gel polish. I love this!

Fantastic product but cap issues
My manicurist has been using this on me for over a year to strengthen my nails. (She charges $5 extra for this) During the quarantine, I decided to keep up a base coat. This product is thicker than most polishes. The cap has a stopping point but if you turn a little harder it keeps turning over and over again. I'm not sure if this is why it's thick.A friend of mine bought a bottle as well and her bottle doesn't close either and was definitely too thick to work with.

Just ok if it’s your only option
I guess the great reviews came from immediate results because on day 1 your nails will like great. Day 2 ... no ma’am! I’ve had this product a week and I’m about to apply for a 3rd time because like other reviewers stated, It lifts off!! I’m only using it because I’m quarantined and pickings are slim. I didn’t want my natural nails to break. They’re thin and I thought this world protect them. It does for about 36 hours! I read many reviews and watch tutorials from the company Before applying. I’m pretty savvy with nail stuff but again I can’t get this to work on my bare nails! To be honest I don’t see a difference between this and any other clear gel!

Requires careful application
This works great with careful application. Took a few tries to get it right. The key is to not have too much on the brush and make sure not get any on the skin around the nails or it will lift quickly. Also lasts longer when using a bonding base. I use Gelish ProBond. I am very pleased with this product.
