Does the strap come with the plate that allows you to fix one tie to the camera base please?

Yes it does. However, be carful with the Anchor Links, as they can rub against your camera body and create a lot of marks and cosmetic damage that depreciates your camera greatly. I had to buy a new battery compartment door just because of that, and I was lucky I had an L-bracket on at the time, so it didn't damage the whole base of the camera body.

Would this be ideal for the canon 200d which is a smaller dlsr

I am not using a 200D. But the weight of my camera ready to use is 1.5 kg. I hope that helps.

Will this take the weight of a Lumix GH5 with a fairly heavy lens?

No problem with Pentax K5 ii, K70 (both + heavy lens) and Lumix GX7
