I am going through the menopause and occasionally am very hot, both in and out of bed. Last summer was quite bad for me so I have bought this in preparation for this summer. I tried it out in bed on top of my pillow and it was very effective. After 5 minutes I had cooled right down. In fact my head was so cold I started to get a headache! I have put it aside until I need it and will use it under my pillowslip. I also get very hot feet so may use it in that area under the sheet.UPDATEI took this on holiday with me to Portugal. Although the room had a/c I still used the cushion under the pillow slip. It was marvellous for getting off to sleep. I would wake up in the middle of the night and the cushion was quite warm but I just flipped the pillow over and went back to sleep. I got a small bit of sunburn on my shoulder blade one day and it was great for lying against to take the heat out of it. Since we got home a week ago it has been very warm and I have used the cushion every night. It has been wonderful and has given me great relief.

These are pretty well made considering the cost. They are a perfect pillow size and are fairly substantial weight, so maybe not the best for carrying around with you. They are great for migraines as they are soothing and also work on hot nights. They do not remain cool for a particularly long time but do make a difference. I have had no issues with leaking thus far.

I was very happy with this product in general. It is really easy to use, just pop it in or out of your pillow and the cooling feeling is instant and lasts a good length of time. It does feel quite heated in the morning after sleep but cools down if you then leave in a colder spot in the house or a windowsill away from sunlight. It's comfortable, lightweight and can also be used as a headchiller for headaches and a laptop mat when resting computers directly on your knees (which is never a good idea without some sort of protective mat, so this works well for that).It can be folded in half and the edges are securely seamed. I have found it improves my night's sleep no end.The only slightly troubling thing is that my particular pillow came with absolutely NO BRAND MARK on it. Has anyone else experienced this? There is no logo or anything, it's blue and just blank, I've checked it meticulously. Anyone could have manufactured it but it does seem secure. The blurb said design may vary and I'd have been more unhappy if I'd had to pay a lot of money for an unbranded/logoless product. For the money this one appears (thus far) very well made and secure. Time will tell...I will update if it explodes or anything. ;)

The problem with gel cushions seems to me to be that although they start out nice and cool, which is relaxing whatever use you put them to, after a while they take on the body's heat. This cushion is no different. On the positive side, this is comprises not one but 2 little cushions, separated by a firmly-sealed strip. So the two equal sides can be doubled up, if placed behind one's back for example, when sitting in a chair; or opened up and slipped inside a pillow, to give extra acreage, so to speak. You can even sit on it, so long as the chair surface is cushioned and not hard. One cannot be sure how well it would take the weight of say, a heavy man. So I ensure I sit on a comfy chair, if I am going to sit on it, to ensure not all my weight is taken by the gel pad.This isn't a life-changer: I wish it was. But it's proably all one can reasonably expect from a relatively inexpensive get pad. It's also small enough to be easily stowed away somewhere when not in use.

I was unsure about this gel pad, particularly as the reviews were mixed. However, for my purposes it is fantastic and I would definitely recommend it. I love sleeping in a cold room and we have a mobile air conditioner which is wonderful but on hot muggy nights I have woken up feeling hot and struggled to get back to sleep. This gel pad really is cool, as soon as it comes into contact with warm skin it feels refreshing and cooling. I do not put it inside a pillow case as I think this is likely to reduce the effectiveness but keep in on the bed and if I wake up hot I can just reach for it. It is quite soft and I find it comfortable enough that I go to sleep on it, if one bit gets warm then another part is cool so just move the pad around.JUST WANT TO ADD A BIT - My husband accidentally put it in the fridge - WOW this is amazing, not sure if it alters the gel or if this is something not recommended but I am so pleased. On very hot nights this is amazing and if I could give it 7 stars I would, my husband also hurt his leg recently and used it, he is a convert and now I shall have to order another one.

The plastic packaging looked intact but when I open both of the items there was water damage on the paper label, the mats had mould on one side and were wet on the other.

We absolutely love these cooling gel mats. We place one in each pillow, and they really do help cool you down. As a menopausal woman, I also place one under me, and it really helps with hot flushes and night sweats. Absolutely brilliant 👏
