Oops, I Did It Again — Bought a Headset and Felt Fabulous
Alright, let’s be real. I bought the Turtle Beach Recon 50X headset for my Xbox mostly because it was cheap and had “Beach” in the name, which sounded relaxing. Spoiler: no beaches included. But hey, it’s a headset, not a holiday.Fit:They fit… okay-ish. Not like a warm hug from your nan, but more like a polite pat on the head from a distant uncle. They sit on my ears without actively hurting me, which I consider a win at this price. Could they be comfier? Sure. But unless you're gaming for 16 hours straight or have ears shaped like antique doorknobs, you’ll manage.Sound Quality:Now, audio quality. Hmm. Here’s where it gets tricky. I'm no audiophile — I’m more of an “audi-eh, it works” kind of person. Maybe the sound is great. Maybe it’s trash. I honestly can’t tell. I’m old. My ears have seen things. The war. Dial-up internet. Limp Bizkit. So I’ll just say the audio seems good enough to hear footsteps, explosions, and your mate Carl whining that you’re “not reviving him fast enough.”Mic:The mic, though? Oh. Oh ho ho. That’s the magic sauce. I plug that bad boy in, and suddenly I’m Britney Spears circa 2001 — headset on, full pop star fantasy unlocked. I don’t even care if my teammates hear me clearly. What matters is I feel powerful, fabulous, and ready to yell “It’s Britney, snitch” before throwing a digital grenade. Conclusion:For the price, this headset does the job. It’s not luxury. It’s not even “middle shelf.” But it works, sounds alright, doesn’t crush my skull, and lets me live my pop diva dreams for a few hours. What more do you want for under the cost of a mediocre pizza?Final Rating: 4/5 stars(+1 star for Britney mic, -1 star for mild ear confusion)

Headphones were decent but didn’t last very long
When I first bought these headphones 6 months ago, they were okay. Whenever I connected them to a controller, sound would sometimes only come out through one side, though this would fix itself after a few minutes. The headphones were actually perfectly fine for listening to music or watching videos. But a few days ago they stopped working completely, without any physical damage to them as far as I could see. The headphones were decent for the price, but if you’re looking for something that’s longer lasting you should spend your money on something else.

Good sound, versatile product, but can break down quickly.
These have a lot of plusses. They work perfectly on both the Xbox one and the pc, although an adaptor is needed if you have an older Xbox one controller, and my son uses another adapter on the PC. He doesn't have to, but insists one two jacks are better than one, so he uses a splitter. The first one we bought was a bit crackly with poor sound, and failed altogether within two weeks so had to be returned, but we bought another right away which was so good we ended up buying yet another so both boys have one.The good points to this product are that when it works properly the sound quality is excellent, my son's friends pick them up loud and clear too, so no more shouting when they play games. The headset is light and comfortable, and they are quite happy to wear it for hours on end. They have in fact spent an entire day playing with each other and talking to each other online.... While in rooms only a few feet part. A shame they don't talk so much without the electronics. My son said it even works with his tablet. The down side is kind one set failed so quickly, and we have had problems with other Turtle Beach Products having short lifespans. However, there is just nothing else in this price range with this type of sound quality, that offers both game and chat sound, for either Xbox or PC, so we continue to buy. The fact that one failed so quickly is my only reason for a lower rating, coupled with the fact that none of our Turtle Beach Products have lasted much more than a year, and we have had quite a few. But do keep in mind, I bought two more afterwards, so I do still recommend the product. For those who may be playing in a family or living room, or even bedroom with a sleeping spouse, there is no sound leakage at reasonable volumes. I do not here the game itself at all when I walk in the boys room. It also cuts back significantly on back ground noise for them, but they can still hear speaking if you are loud enough. That said they hear " The pizza is here" ever so much easier than, "It is time to shut that off and go to bed".I would also note that the microphone comes unattached. When you put this on, be certain it snaps into place. I could not do this myself due to a disability that affects my hands. It does take a bit of strength. But if not snapped in correctly, the mic may fail to pick up well, resulting in poatchy conversations and may fall out and get lost.
