Is the quality and brand good?

They dont ride up or down, The top & bottom edges do not roll over & curl, They keep there shape after 10 hours a day usage, Been wearing them for over a year now (not nights) They are as good as the day I bought them from Amazon...So to answer your question "Yes top quality & very good brand"

Would medium suit a 58k woman or need small ?

I don't think your overall weight is really relevant here. If you follow the instructions and measure your thigh four inches above your knee cap and check against the sizes given you should find the right size, i.e. 13.8 inches o 16.5 inches would suggest you need a medium. Having large thighs I bought the XL and they are great, they don't slip, are very comfortable and give good support! Hope this helps?

Could they be used when running?

Yes they can it's a snug fit, gives good support and will not roll down providing you get the right size.

Does the label go at the top or bottom?

At the top -regardless of the label in case it’s been changed since my purchase - it’s a bit wider at the top- if you lay them flat before putting it on you will see the knee bend and this will help you
