Does the job
I have purchased a lot of Silverline products and this one as with the other's provides good value for money. The protractor is clearly marked and therefore easy to read. The metal construction is much nicer that a plastic version particularly if cutting along it. The angle measurement is accurate but the one caveat is that the locking nut allows for a slight movement of the protractor and so you really need to note the angle before moving as it can slip 5 degree's if you are not careful. It may depend what use you are purchasing this for as to whether you can put up with this. I also like the 600mm length.

Accurate enough for the price.
A sturdy piece of kit that allows for measuring internal angles because it doesn't have a bulbous protractor where the pivot is. However the accuracy isn't perfect (~2-3 degrees off). I've seen multiple reviews about the accuracy, some people suggesting that people didn't know how to use the caliper style offset measurement system. The real reason it isn't accurate is because the holes drilled in to form the pivot point are larger than the bolt allowing the two parts to shift slightly. Because the angle measurement marking are so close to the pivot, a slight shift from the intended position results in a loss of accuracy. You can tell it shifts because with a little force you can make a thin sliver the curved edge of the rear arm appear or disappear when set to 90 degrees. If you need precision, spend more! If, like me, you are basically using it as a template to match angles on panelling before cutting and fitting it into alcoves then you'll be fine.

Good quality.
Well made and extremely useful.

Great tool
Tightening screw could be better but if you are careful it works great.

A Very Accurate Tool if You Know How to Use It
The low star reviews on this item generally refer to it being inaccurate, which is untrue. This is in fact a very accurate tool if you know how to use it. It's rather like a vernier caliper in that the 'main' scale shows the angle to the nearest five degrees, but the secondary scale (+1,+2... etc) is added to the first to make the final angle. The secondary figure is determined by seeing which degree of the main scale is in line with a secondary. Thus, if you get an angle somewhere between 155 and 160, look to see which secondary line is touching a main scale line e.g. +4, which totals 155 + 4 = 159 degrees, and there is your angle. You can double-check this by seeing if the 'reading' line is closer to 155 or 160, to make sure have sighted it up correctly.Comments about the lock nut are partially true, if you undo it too far there's a little washer which can slip inside and stops the lock nut gripping properly. This can be repositioned though and in future just undo the nut enough to allow the two halves to slide.I hope this is useful to people, using this tool has saved me a lot of headwork and made carpentry a lot easier!
