Q: It there a face plate with this item?

Hi,This listing is for the dry lining box only. The face plate will need to be ordered separately depending on if you require a switch, socket, blank plate etc.Kind Regards,LP Supplies

Q: Can I have cables running out the side of it?

As you can see from picture the cables are supposed to come through break out panels in the back or top and bottom. So through the side would interfere with the slide units that tighten to the plasterboard face. Could be fitted at 90degrees but then the switch or socket would also be at 90deg. Would be best if you had room to take cables around the back and feed in if they must come bin from sides

Q: The red side grippers look pretty deep.. but what thickness of plasterboard can they attach onto? i'm installing these into a 2cm mdf wardrobe.

They are quite deep to allow for fitting to quite deep boarding. I think your mdf measurements will be fine for this fitting.
