Exactly what i was looking for
I've been looking for something to light my camping gas lamp without burning my hands for ages and been struggling with matches, normal lighter. Trouble is you have to reach down into the glass to get it alight and of course, when you light it up, it's dark so a real pain, specially as it takes a little while and you get a little explosion of heat.....Saw this, wanted it, bought it and when it arrived I filled it with butane and tried it on the lamp. Excellent. I can get this in the right spot BEFORE I turn on the gas, so all I have to do is press the ignition and there it is, instant light.Hopefully it's as well made and durable as it looks (Being Zippo, one expects quality) and give me many years of use.Only drawback, as with many lighters, is that you can't see the gas level inside, so no indication it's about to run out.

It dose well for what it's used for.
Keep it clean from Greece or the black enamel will peel off. Otherwise, it's very useful.

Works well
Bought this to make lighting new bbq easier and less painful/awkward, and so far it's been good. It's easy to use, and have only had to charge it once (although possibly says more about how lacking the weather has been for bbqing!) It charged quickly but battery life seems good. It looks slick, so don't mind it sitting out. The movable neck makes it easy to point the flames where you want it so have been happy with how it performs. But have minused 1 star because it is more expensive than other options and didn't think it was clear what fuel it would need and bought the wrong one to begin with.

Flaming Good
An excellent lighter, especially for candles. The usual Zippo quality which means it won't break in 6 months like an cheaper, unbranded inferior lighter probably would.

Started off well!
It started off so well strong flame although with the button and slider combination for ignition it makes it fiddly to lightNow it's December 2014 and the flame is pathetic slightest movement and it blows out. Just shows that in this case money doesn't buy quality.

Slightly disappointing
I decided to buy this having had a zippo when I smoked a good few years ago. This was purchased to give flexible lighting options for my wood burner. I've filled it with both cheap gas and the better purer gas and it performs quite badly. The flame isn't powerful enough, it also not adjustable enough and so goes out frequently, that's if you can get it to light in the first place. I know it's not a turbo but it's still very poor. Other hand lighters perform better. It s pleasant to hold, appears to be well made and has a good safety lighting process. So that gets it a three from me!

Lighter for fire and candles
Best lighter on the market for lighting candles and our fire. Never lets me down

Best on the market
A very well build product, well worth the money. In a different league to the cheaper plastic ones on the market. The only criticism is that the child safety system is a bit awkward to use until you get the technique, but then, that's what it is for. Also stick to the instructions; fill the lighter and wait the 4 hours recommended to let everything stabilised (there is NO butane in them from new). I filled mine and tried it after about 5 minutes, the result were a quite large roaring flame. After the 4 hour wait, it worked perfectly. An excellent product; you won't be disappointed.

Well built, designed to last
Until now I have mainly used cheap plastic long neck lighters. While refillable, they seemed to stop working even though they had fuel and made a spark. I simply could not get them to light. Some lasted the initial load of fuel, and some lasted part of a second fill but then they stopped.I also tried a long neck, electronic, plasma lighter. Cool product but it is fiddly to light a candle. The electrodes need to be positioned with the wick in between and at the right height above the wax (near the top seems to work better) and even then the flame starts but goes out as I remove the lighter. Sometimes the electrodes touch the wick and break it if previously burned. The claims of the number of lights per charge must be based on lighting something that lights within a second or two with these lighters because I never got that many lights from a charge. So I ordered this Zippo Flex Neck Utility Lighter and this is my initial review after only a few days. The lighter clearly says "Unfilled" Unlike most butane lighters, this one arrives empty. Be sure to buy a can of butane to fill it. The longer version appears to come with a small can of butane. Also note that the instructions say to wait 4 hours before use after first filling. If you try sooner it might not light or might burp out butane resulting in an inconsistent and variable flame. For subsequent fills they suggest waiting a few minutes before use. This lighter is solid. The body appears to be metal with a textured rubber or soft plastic sleeve (the dull black in the photo) for grip. The ends might be shiny black plastic caps over metal. I can't tell if the flame control knob is metal or plastic. Mine weighs 130g with butane in it (but no packaging). Presumably the 136g item weight in the listing is the weight in the package. My cheap long neck lighter weighs 51g full of fuel. The flame control knob turns about 90 degrees (1/4 turn) from + to -. I had no problem finding a suitable position within this small rotation.Other reviewers comment on difficulty with operating this lighter. It has a child safety feature and cannot be disabled. It took me a few tries before I figured it out. Holding the lighter as shown in the photo with the rectangular slide switch up, press the round button on the back with a finger then push the slide forward using my thumb until it makes that familiar snap sound of a piezoelectric lighter sparking. Some people might find it easier to use 2 hands. I suspect that my mother in her late 80s would find this too difficult to use. I do not find it more difficult than most other childproof lighters. The main difficulty is the force required to slide the rectangular switch forward. Most lighters use a push motion for the spark, either a thumb button or finger trigger. As with most piezoelectric lighters, this one does not always start on the first try, but it consistently ignites within a few clicks. That depends to some extent on how big the flame is set. With a small flame it takes a few tries, less often when set to a large flame. This is NOT a torch lighter. It makes a flame similar to that shown on the package, a gentle, silent, flame that curls upwards. The flame head at the end of the flex neck is interesting. A jet from which the gas emerges is set deep in the head. Closer to the outlet is the spark gap where the gas is ignited. Right near the end where the flame emerges is a wiggly piece of wire bent back and forth like a series of connected S shapes. This wire glows red when the lighter is lit and probably contributes to its wind resistance. Also at the very end is a small metal hole that also releases gas to contribute to the flame. This is described on the product page as the "wind resistant dual flame". I can blow out the visible flame but the wire keeps glowing red hot suggesting that the wire is platinum or some other catalyst and the gas from the inner jet is still burning (being oxidized), though not visibly. When I do this, the outer flame does not reignite so I am unsure how effective this is.The lighter has a nice large loop on the back for hanging, but the loop folds against the body and stays folded if you don't want to use it.I wanted a long neck lighter for lighting candles in tall glass jars, among other uses. I have some 9" deep 2" diameter ones and want to light them even whey they are burned down to near the bottom. Although the flex neck is only 5" long and the distance from the slide switch to the flame is about 7.5" long, my hand is further back and I have no problem lighting this candle. There are some things I read about in reviews but cannot comment on because I have not used this long enough. There is no indication as to how much fuel this holds and no fuel level window so I don't know how long it will last between fills. Because this lighter is about the same size as a cheap long neck lighter, I would think that the fuel reservoir would be about the same volume and because the flame is similar in size I would think that this will burn fuel at about the same rate.Reviewers have also praised the long life of this lighter or its predecessors. Time will tell but I bought this specifically because I prefer a lighter that lasts, rather than replacing and disposing of cheap lighters.

I refilled it, but it won't light at all
I refilled it with original zippo refill, but it won't light properly. I have to press 6-10 times for it to light once, and then flame goes off immediately

Il me durera.
